Nice smooth blues there. It slightly reminded me of Dikkey Betts or Jerry Garcia using a strat. I liked how you came into the solo around 2:24. A lot of good phrasing and note choices. I also liked the times you did a fast vibrato....nicely done.
Mixwise... The vocals could stand to be pulled down a little with more verb on her voice. I like the reverb on your guitar, but it makes her voice stand out too dry.
Like others said, we've imagined your sound to be pretty similar to this. I knew it wasn't going to be barre chord metal! LOL

I got so caught up in trying to think who the singer reminded me of, that I forgot this point. But its true. Lew . . . you sound exactly as I pictured you sounding. (Thats a good thing.)

I owe Albert Collins more than a little credit when it comes to stinging those notes with that quick vibrato. Love his playing. I do tend to vary the finger vibrato and not play with the same vibrato in every phrase, although it's more of a natural thing and not something I think about when doing it. Believe it or not, I've always admired Yngwie's vibrato. I don't hear the Jerry Garcia or Dikkey Betts influence so much and I haven't spent much time listening to Jerry's electric playing at all. People have mentioned it though so there must be some similarity. I think it's just playing with a cleanish Strat tone. As far as Dikkey goes (so funny that we have to spell it that way to avoid the name being censored out! laugh!) I've always appreciated his cleanish tone and sense of melody. Love the original Allman Brothers stuff, although Duane was the man I admired most in that band. I don't generally go in for a lot of distortion or overdrive, although I appreciate many of the players who do - especially Jeff Beck.

Very nice Lew, I really dig this song. I have a lot less time to hang in the clip section, but when I saw this thread I had to chime in. Very cool vibe, great riff, and the lady has a wonderful blues voice. I think everything sounds overproduced these days, and I really miss stuff like that. Stuff that sounds real, unprocessed. Organic is the word, flesh and bones.

Thanks Sly! I insisted that the band record with everyone playing together so we could capture a moment in time. Personally, I prefer that sound and feeling of everyone getting off on each other and responding to each other in a real moment in time. IMO, Jazz HAS to be recorded that way or else it's not Jazz! And I think most rock, blues, folk and country should be recorded that way too. There's a magic that's created when people play together and respond to each other with everyone playing together on stage or in a room all together. It may be less than perfect and you may get some mistakes - but it has more feeling and humaness and connection. It's the only way I'll do it.
