Lewsguitars noiseless thread?

Did Lew delete it? Did that thread refer to the new rails design? I guess I'm a little confused! :smack: :duh:

Re: Lewsguitars noiseless thread?

yes, I think he deleted it ..

he said he was going to do more testing, some in a jam

I'm sure we'll hear more about these pickups ;)

Re: Lewsguitars noiseless thread?

I deleted it because these are new, prototype Duncan Noiseless Strat pickups that Evan sent me to test and not a final product available for immediate sale. As far as I'm concerned: they are ready to put on the market because they sound great! Best humcancelling/noiseless Strat pickups I've ever owned.

I compared them to the Antiquitys in my favorite Strat and they sounded similar to those in tone, but the new Noiseless are a little thicker and chunkier and a little hotter. Also slightly more of a compressed tone but just a little.

At stage volumes they rock and are as silent as any other good humbucker while retaining what I would call a slightly hotter than vintage tone but still very vintage.

But they are not yet for sale, there is no retail price established yet and I don't know when they will be available for sale.

Guys started asking those types of questions and there's no answer yet...Duncan will release them when they're ready to release them.

But they are not ready to release just yet.

Now, we know...I have been looking all over to find more info on these pups!

They are excellant. I suspect it won't be long before they hit the market. I promised Curly he could try them so I'm sending them to Curly next week. Then Gearjoneser gets to take them for a spin. You should get to try them too. I wouldn't mind losing them for one more week. Wish Doc Barlo lived a little closer...don't want to ship them to Turkey and back! :smack: I'd like them back again someday though! Right now I'm having a hard enough time removing them from my Strat so I can send the pickguard to Curly. But I thought I'd let 3 or 4 of my buddies here try them out and fill out the questionaire Evan sent me. But I'm going to limit it to 3 or 4 just because I'm enjoying them myself so much and want them back again within a month or so. Lew

How about Stratdeluxer?......he and I have very similar tastes so his opinion would be appreciated by at least myself.

Re: Lewsguitars noiseless thread?

OK...I'm pulling them out and shipping them off in the prewired pickguard to Curly in the morning. I'm really going to miss 'em! I want 'em back again fellas! :) Spent about an hour this morning playing this Strat with the Duncan Noiseless and I have been blown away every single time.

Today I plugged into my mid 80's Ratt, into my Boss Stereo Reverb Pedal, into my two late 50's 5E3 tweed Fender Deluxe amps in stereo. Cranked the amps up to about 4 and just had a blast wailing away on my own stuff as well as some Jeff Beckish kinds of things.

Boy...if I'd had these in my Strats 20 years ago when I was gigging for a living I'd have been one happy camper!

Re: Lewsguitars noiseless thread?

If I like'em, would I be able to buy them, or would I have to wait till they get officially released? I'm yanking the Fat 50's out of my SSS strat, putting 2 in my G&L, then buying a new set for my SSS strat. If I like these, I may put them in my sunburst rosewood SSS strat.....or another Surfer or Fat 50's set. Do these noiseless ones sound bigger than Surfers, thinner, or the same?

I think you would have to wait. But look at the bright side, at least you will be trying them out. I, on the other hand, would have to wait. :smack: But anyways not a biggie 'cause I trust the ears of my friends here! ;)

Yeah, I don't want to sell 'em. To me, what these Noiseless are going to be especially great for is gigging. They're a little hotter than the Surfers and seem to push my amps harder. They have a nice bubbly clean Strat tone, but getting more modern overdriven tones seems a bit easier with these.

I think they're going to be a big hit, especially for the guys looking for a tone just a bit fuller and slightly stronger than vintage...but still capable of classic Strat tone...and noiseless.

IMO, these pickups have a very musical tone. It's not exactly vintage but it's very close and because it's such a pleasant and highly musical tone I don't find myself missing that it's not exactly a vintage tone.

It's darn close though!
