Life I'm Leading

Well, I'm all most finished with the album I've been making for the last year and this is the last track in sequence that will close the album. A little back story because it is the darkest track on the album yet has an element of hope that you can hear when the bridge comes in. When I was a teenager I was abandoned by my family and took up shelter in a house that was abandoned as well because of a mud slide wrecking the kitchen area. I use to sit in the front yard and dream of a better time to come...it came. If there is a message to the song it is to keep hope alive.

This mp3 is 128k so feel free to download it if you want and here are the chord changes to jam over it if you want to do that.

This track features Brian Fullen on drums (Shania Twain & Peter Frampton) who is for hire at great rates (plug) if you're interested - he's also a very cool guy.

That's actually not bad. I'd normally not be interested in this kind of music but for some reason it caught my ear. Sounds very pro (at least to me).

Hey thanks Markk. I left it a little rough around the edges on purpose so glad you thought it sounds pro.

What kind of music do you like usually?

Re: Life I'm Leading

Right now I'm more of a SRV fan. There's just something about that music that's clicking with me now. But I'm starting to like more and more vai stuff after forcing myself to buy one of the G3 cd's with Eric Johnson et al. I'm attempting to tackle his song, Sisters.

I never looked into that stuff before, don't know what hit me. Divine inspiration? :)

I like SRV but haven't heard enough of Vai's stuff to get into it, I can also appreciate Eric Johnsons talent but I like songs with vocals more than instrumental stuff.

Re: Life I'm Leading

I'm usually way more of a vocal guy myself. The first couple of instrumental songs I heard just had something missing. Like there was a hole.

Maybe because I had the urge to improve my playing and thought, why not try this out. Whatever the reason, I think I can *almost* hear the vocals in the guitar playing.

I was a fan of more instrumental stuff when I was younger. Maybe now I just want to hear a good vocal melody and story - I'm just not that interested in a players ability although I appreciate it.

Who's singing? Something about that accent is driving me nuts! Like, not in a bad way, in a "I know this country and I can't pinpoint it" way.

Good mix, very professional sounding, albiet the guitars sound a little too compressed for my tastes, I like lots of mids, and a tone that really breathes, and sounds wide open. Nice track man, it wouldn't surprise me if that came on the radio.

That would be me singing and the country is California! :chairfall You can never have to much compression...kidding. :) I recorded it at home and used the Toneport through a ValveKing 1x12 using the Evanescence + another preset and a EC400 - not exactly an Ideal set up but it works okay. I'm glad you think it's a good track and thank you. I think it's too dark for radio but hey I'd be happy if it ever did make it on.

Cheers man!
