I remember reading about some cases made from some super light but hard stuff.... Anyone know what they were? I bet they're really expensive too.... :blackeye: (but worth it? hmmm :13: )
Sorry, I have no idea what you're referring to. I have a custom case at home for my Wayne, I will find out who makes it. But it's not light at all. My other cases are SKB; also not light.
Hiscox. I think they're a British company, but they're the best mix of quality, durability, weight and price that I've seen. They have cases for all sorts of guitars. I have one for my most expensive classical guitar, and that case saved it more than a few times. I had my case shipped from England to Hawaii, and I wasn't disappointed.
Gator Case is a Florida-based company that makes cases that look similar to SKB stuff but are made from Military-Grade (read: indestructible) plastic resin. I've sold a few of them when i worked for gc and they were well worth the money, no more expensive than regular SKB cases but waaaay tougher.

I have one just like the Gator case above except mine is a peavy for my guitar. Got in new for $50. It's just about as hard on the inside as a hard shell case covered in softer material on the outside. A hard shell would probably protect a little better than than this kind but unless your going to drop your guitar out the window going 50mph everything should be just fine. Only thing I found negative about it is that is isn't very deep so when I put my tele in it the neck dosen't lay all the way down in the neck slot and when it's closed it puts pressure on the neck. But since my GAX70 is thin it works fine. The gator might be different? I used it for my tele for about 6 months and no problems but just want to avoid it doing anything to the neck so I use it for my GAX. And I hope the zipper never messes up cause I don't think you could replace it. But the handles and a lot more comfortable to carry than a hard shell and I like having pockets on the front. The positives out weigh the negatives to me. Their nice little cases.
