Lil 59 too wide for Steinberger type

I recently got a Lil 59 for my Hohner Steinberger G3T style guitar. When I fitted it, I found it's too wide for the string spacing!

What is especially problematic is the low and high E strings when I switch the pickup out-of-phase with the bridge pickup. I have tried setting the screw heights, but I'm not getting satisfactory results.

Any suggestions? The Gibson spacing seems to be too narrow, which is as I understand it even worse!

Could you replace it with a Cool Rails? The CR has a great punch and tone to it, and solves those string alignment problems.

You sure you didn't get the right one? I.e. neck lil 59 for neck spot?

Fender_Punk: Yes, the box says neck.

CoolRails: That's a good plan, ArtieToo.

Is the coolrails output similar to that of the lil 59?

I'm thinking about the setup height. The bridge pickup is a jb full humbucker. Although it's very hot, the 59 on the neck was basically OK (except for the outer strings). Will the coolrails match the jb?

Yes, in fact, some folks call the CR the "rails" version of a 59. I've had both and I think they're different. The Lil 59 sounds like a full-sized 59, while the CR has its own unique character. I prefer the CR.
