I built a hardtail Strat from parts I bought off eBay. I put 3 Lil 59ers in it, 2 500K Bourns pots, 1 Gibson 500K push/pull pot, an old 3 way Strat switch and 2 mini toggles. I wired it, like I had done other Strats before, according to an old Jeff Baxter Guitar Player article. Basically, it gives you all the Tele positions on the 3 way, and has a dedicated volume for the middle pickup. I modded that by sticking the mini toggles and the push/pull pot to split each pickup independently.
After reading some articles and forums on the internet, I came to the conclusion that the 3 way wasn't doing the neck and bridge properly. I ordered and installed one of these: http://www.stewmac.com/Pickups_and_Electronics/Components_and_Parts/Switches/Megaswitch_E-Model.html and wired it like the 3 single coil diagram, including the split switches for each pickup. The neck and bridge sound better, but things don't work as well as they did previously. I now want to wire up the Megaswitch like this; Neck HB, Neck+Mid split, Neck+Bridge HB, Middle+Bridge, Bridge HB. I would then have the three splits to split the pickups in HB mode. I guess I'd have to lose the dedicated middle pickup volume. Not sure what to do now. Any one else had a similar wiring scheme?
