This pedal got a rave review in a recent Guitar Player delay pedal shootout.

Anyone have any experience with it? I just ordered one but it hasn't arrived yet.

Has Stereo In as well as Stereo Out...that's cool!

Thanks! Lew

Re: Line 6 Echo Park...

i looked into getting one and when i was on stage testing one out before a gig in the empty bar so it was fairly quiet and the amp was turned up to gig volume, i heard a little tick coming thru the amp in time with the setting on the pedal when it was off. i couldnt hear it when the band was playing and i still might get one but i havent tried it again since to see if it was just that unit or they all do it.
thats the only real complaint i have, the tone seemed really nice at least on stage.

hows that daytona? i use an almost identical setup in mine, just with aps2's

Hi Jeremy! That slight amount of noise is probably what Guitar Player meant in thier review when they said they could hear a little bit of noise when playing alone but no noise when playing with a band. Still, they gave it the highest recomendation of all the pedals they tested in the shoot out. Gave it thier Editors Pick award.

As for the Daytona, I love it. It's a little heavier in weight and brighter in tone than my other Strats but it plays and sounds great. It came with the APS-1 pickups and I did replace the bridge pickup with a Twangbanger. I think that was a good move.

Thanks! Lew

Re: Line 6 Echo Park...

I had one and the only reason I parted ways with it was to get his big brother the DL4. The only reason for me to get the DL was to have the extra 2 presets. The Echo Park is great!! It is basically a mini DL4 if you are familiar with that pedal. That little sucker is built like a brick house too.

I want an Echo Park too. I tried one in a shop 12 months ago and was blown away. Just gotta save the pennies.

Re: Line 6 Echo Park...

I have always been a fan of Line 6's effects models, great sounding stuff.

Re: Line 6 Echo Park...

so it is a modeller?

does it model things like tape echos/analog delay pedals and whatnot?

The POD XTL's delays are pretty impressive, so it doesn't surprise me that got a good review.. but I gotta say the VOX pedal models seem the best/most authentic to me...but I dont believe they sell just an effects modelling unit?

Re: Line 6 Echo Park...

I still think the best value is a used DL-4, since you have 3 preset sounds and 1 tap tempo. That pedal is really a fun pedal to play with!

Re: Line 6 Echo Park...

the echo park is a great pedal- the only one i'd pick over it is the dl4, which you tend to see on tv a lot :)
the dl4 is worth the extra models, presets, and the looping...mmmm, love the looping.

Re: Line 6 Echo Park...

Hey Lew-
Yeah, the Echo Park is ok. The biggest problem that I have is the whole one channel thing. All those options...only one channel (option anxiety) I have noticed an increase in volume when I kick mine in (so much so that I don't want to ever turn it off :(. The Tap Tempo, of course, is a great thing to have. I leave mine set on "Ducking" which is sort of a dynamic delay. It's always there but it increases delay feedback when you play slowly or let notes ring out. Very cool for David Gilmour kind of solos...not so good for the Eric Johnson cascading penatonics sound. However, I've found that ducking is a good middle ground when I can't bear to turn the thing off. Basically it just makes me want to shell out the dough for a DL4 (DL4=pedal + brand new pedal board for real estate).

Shouldn't be too big a deal though, I can't even play like Eric Johnson;)

Re: Line 6 Echo Park...

Dang...now you guys got me worrying that I should have picked up a DL4. Never even heard of the thing before today! I'm not much of a pedal junky...but I do love Eric Johnson's echo tone.

Still...I've got an old Echoplex just like his if I want to cop Eric's thing.

Re: Line 6 Echo Park...

Keep going, Lew. First the Daytona, and now a DL-4 type. I'll bring you over to the dark side, yet...lol

Ha! :laugh2: Really, what I plan to use this for is to split the signal from my guitar to two Matchless or Fender amps onstage...and add a little echo when I need it. I have a stereo Boss DD and stereo Reverb pedal I've been using for that but I was hoping for a more organic/analog tone from the Line 6 unit.

Thanks Guys!

WOW Lew I'm surprised you haven't heard of the DL 4. It's been around for a good while now. It's pretty much THE delay pedal to have. Sure some rack stuff is more elaborate, but the DL is where it's at IMHO!!

Re: Line 6 Echo Park...

i have had no problems with noise with mine. it does have a slight volume boost. i run mine in between the pre and power. works great.

Re: Line 6 Echo Park...

Hmm me old buddy had three of those dl-4's, now the third one has broken down as well, he now bought an old Ibanez AD-9and is looking for a Maxon AD-999 as the second dealy;)
SOme never have any issues with them, others seems to wade in troubles.

Re: Line 6 Echo Park...

Hey Lew,

If you can afford the extra pennies and have the real estate on your board, definitely go with the DL4. I do something similar to you: I take my mono signal and put it into an Analog Man Clone Chorus w/ stereo out into the stereo inputs of the DL4 then go stereo out to an AC30 (left channel) and Fender Super Reverb (right channel). I love the sound of having one side dry and the other with reverb. The delay's got loads of great features others have already mentioned. If you want to know more, just go to Line 6's website and download the manual.

As for the Echo Park review in GP, I'm always leery of reviews coming from publishing that contain ads. You never know how much someone's being paid to say something about a particular product. That said, I'm sure the Echo Park's still a great pedal.

Re: Line 6 Echo Park...

Thanks Guys! I've talked to the seller and I might go for the DL4 instead.
