Line 6...tell me something

Re: Line 6...tell me something

Flextone III looks kinda cool...but Im real unsure as to how good the tones are...I dont expect the Bogner to sound like a Bogner but are the tones good useable tones? Are they halfway close to the model...ore is it a big waste of time...I know that these questions are about 10 years too late...but Im a die hard tube amp man...looking for a new toy to maybe help with live gigs, and recording...as well as open my mine to new ideas

Re: Line 6...tell me something

All I can say is that I love my Flex II for home recording ...

Live, I've seen other player get great live tones out of my amp, but I don't seem to get the same level of results

Re: Line 6...tell me something

AX212 - Most excellent!

Flextone I - Feh... Alright start but needs tweaks.

Flextone II - My personal fave, easiest to get good sounds out of. I'd gig with one. The POD 2.0 essentially is one in a box and i love the sounds it can get in a pinch.

Flextone III - Not baaaad! although sometimes the midrange is hollow-sounding. More realistic overall feel than the Flextone II's.

Spider I - ok for a small practice amp. Not gig material.

Spider II - YUCK. Had one for a few weeks are returned it, cold and lifeless and bad effects.

Vetta series - I've heard good sounds come out of them but htye require major tweakage. Plus I've heard a respected guitarist in my area who is a Vetta user say he had to struggle with the Vetta to get the same sound as a ToneBone Hot British into a Marshall head. I don't even know why he thought it was possible in the 1st place... ;) Good amp, hope you got a manual.

HD147 - sounds good if you can crank it up to stupidly loud levels. NOT a bedroom amp in the least - this thing is for LOUD giggin'.

Re: Line 6...tell me something

I downloaded several dozen sound clips last night...the Spider I and Ii sounded like crap...The Flextone III sonded pretty damn good! I can't belive I just said that but it's true. I still belive that nothing beats a Tele or a Strat in a Fender amp for beautiful clean tones, and nothing in the world can compare to a HUmbucker into a Marshall or a good Tweed amp for a good crunch tone...but as a tool...NOT A COLLECTION OF AMPS, it seems pretty good.

Re: Line 6...tell me something

I'm a long time tube guy (deluxe reverb) and I finally decided to buy a Spider II 1x12 to see what all the buzz was about with modeling amps. I've had it for a couple of months and I really like it.

The models are pretty good, not shockingly awesome but pretty good. I like the fact that with a little fine tuning with the controls and with the help of a decent EQ pedal you can get a variety of believable amp models. The on-board effects are OK. The delays, reverb and phaser are nice but the chorus, flanger and tremolo are a bit overpowering because you don't have a lot of control with these (like with a stomp box).

I beleive I paid $280 ant GC for the spider II and I'm definitly keeping it. As far as the Flextones and Vetta models I really don't have any experience but I hear good things!

Re: Line 6...tell me something

I think if your only amp is a 15-watt Fender solidstate, the Spider amps are a good step up just for the variety.

I think if you're spoiled by tubes (like me) then you're better of stickin with what you know...haha
