"line level" input & recording

OK, my 1814 M-powered Pro Tools box says that I can plug my amp into the line input, but did they really mean that ? I have a Rivera M60 head w/ line out, and a Mesa F30 with line out, and my my 1814 claims a line input. But, like, its going to melt in a burst of sparks if it gets line from a cranked 60 W amp isn't it ? Anybody know the answer to this one ? Thanks !!

Re: "line level" input & recording

The line out from your amps is going to be after the preamp but before the power stage, so the 1814 won't be seeing anything of the 60w amp. Only the speaker out is after the power stage, and if you plug that into your 1814, you will cause Armageddon.

Cheers............................wahwah

Re: "line level" input & recording

You can plug the line out of your amp directly into the recorder since the output is at line level. Unless it's a speaker emulated line out you probably won't want to as a non-emulated line out doesn't sound very good without a lot of processing. (eq, compression, etc.)
