I've been very happy with my TonePort, but this pack just doesn't add as much variation as I'd have liked. There are some good sounds in here, but they're all pretty much sounds I can get from the stock models if I play with settings. I just couldn't find anything really unique in this pack that spoke to me. Back it goes!

same with the metal pack, good sounds, but variations on the same. i don't think it is worth the $. I liked the FX Pack though.

That's interesting, as the stock high(ish) gain models seem to leave a lot of ground uncovered to me. The Metal pack was never that tempting to me, though, as that's not something I play very much and when I do, the Rat--->JCM800 gets me most of the kicks I'm looking for.

I'm a little curious to play with some of the stuff in the FX pack, but for the most part I only use delay and reverb, with some chorus here and there, so I'm not sure that in the long run the wackier options (or the 14 different choruses) would be of much utility to me.

Still...given their 30 day return policy, I might be willing to give it a trial run.

I was lookin to get the metal shop pack and the fx pack, so I just went ahead and got the package deal. I really never use any of the models in the CC pack. The effects are pretty cool, and the metal shop pack covers picks up where the XT high-gain models left off. Nothing really spectacular in that pack though.

Eh, the POD is a cool tool, but Its very limited.

Are you using the pre-made patches or making your own?

I really didn't find anything nearly interesting until I put one together from a blank spot and then found that's where the real qualities came in.

As far as I can tell, the model pack comes with no additional patches, so that's not really an issue for this product.

But yeah, overall, I find the premade patches on the stock unit to be pretty lacking. I've used a couple of them as starting points for my own twiddling, but even those are the exception rather than the rule.

It covers the rest of the highgain territory. I use the metal pack almost exclusively come to think of it... only other models I use a lot are the ac30 top boost and the jazz clean model for effects and bass. Love the plexi's but I almost never use em for some reason. Interesting that you use the jcm800 model a lot- I thought it was really thin sounding on first impression. Maybe I should give it another go.

Good to know about the CC models. I'm still sort of interested just cuz it's only 50 bucks but it can definitely wait.

I have enjoyed the Jubilee, Uberschall, and Diezel Lead models quite a bit... much to my own surprise!

I'll give it a test drive in a few weeks when I get some time and see what I think.

The appeal to me is that it's the closest I will ever get to owning a Bogner or a Deizel.
