What we need is for someone to work through this thread and compile the results into the top 50 most popular amps among SDUGF members, both for "current ownership" and "previously owned". Analysis by brand, power amp tube type, wattage, number of channels etc. would also be helpful.

2016 update:


●Peavey Stereo Chorus 400 with a Boss GT-3 - started out using these. They're both still around somewhere.

●Fender "eighty-five" - Dad found it in a pawn shop. He still has it.

●Peavey Vypyr 15 - Bought when i was stationed in Cali and needed something small. Gave to my brother. He still uses it.

●Peavey Vypyr 100 - Bought at the same time as the MH350NT. - Sold

● Peavey/Agile Ampkit for iPhone. - Ditched apple in 2014 and never looked back.

●Peavey classic 50 - my first tube amp. I ran an AMT E1 into the FX loop for the occasional high-gain stuff. - Sold

●Valveking 100 - sounded like floppy dog****. Sold after like 3 weeks of trying to live with it. Bought the Texas Heats during this time.

●JSX - bought it in 2013 with a broken enclosure on ebay and built a new box and matching speaker cab. I'm pretty sure I'll be buried with this thing.

●I recently stripped a 1947 radio of parts to build a champ'ish clone. Built a cab for the speaker.

Playmaster 60 watt head . [ Kit amp using the same output valves as an Aussie Goldentone 60 amp. The circuit wasn't much different either. ] I think I borrowed a mates 2 x 12 cabinet when I wanted to use it. I can't really remember.

[1971/70's]
Strauss NS120 [4 x 6CA7's in the out put section.] Aussie brand . !20 Watt stack [ 2 x 4x12 cabinets ]

Strauss Polka 120. Another 120 watt stack [ It wasn't as good as the NS120 ]

[2002]
Vase Trendsetter 80. Aussie amp from the 70's[ 80 Watt Head modified to 100 Watt version ] used with a 400 watt Seymour Duncan Stereo Quadbox.

[2015]
Kustom KBA16 [ given to me about a year ago ]

The Playmaster and the Vase have both been rebuilt.
