my husband is building me a custom guitar using little 59 pickups with a tuneomatic bridge. this causes the poles on the pickups to be wider than the e to e spacing.
to correct this we are leaning towards a reverse slant on the pickups. (we also like the way it looks on this body) this in turn will cause the strings to cross between the poles of each repective coil an angle with the string moving towards the center of one pole while away from the center of the other. (and vice versa) does any one have experience using a dual coil humbucker at an angle and are there any problems such as phase cancellation, or tone loss?
also if we decide to run them straight (no slant) with the poles wider than the strings will this have a negative affect?
any help would be greatly appreciated
