little amp head suggestion

Re: little amp head suggestion

It's worth noting Blackstars have this fuzzy, bit hazy quality in distortion, especially ht-5 at least. I guess it has something to do with the built-in overdrive circuitry in them.

I can’t speak to the ht-5 but I don’t find that to be the case at all with my ht-20. I think that amp sounds killer.

I didn't meant it in a negative or bad way (though I can see it might sound like that...). Just that it has that pushed distortion you get with tubescreamer or fuzz.

Yep own a little JCA 22H Custom head myself. Great little amp that does a really nice clean with some "hair" that will get narley when you dig in then really clean up well when you roll back the volume or lighten your touch. The high gain tones are blistering + has one of the better pedal friendly effects loops I have used. Best bang for the $ I have found in a small head. It's what i normally hit when I'm here at the house and need to run through a song at low volume but make no mistake this thing will get LOUD!
I have an older "333" 22H (not Custom) and it can scream. Killer little amp for "Marshally" cleans up to Soldano SLO drive
