Little burn out on my guitar... help? Tele/Jazz content

I don't know what's been going on lately, but I've figured out that I don't really like my guitar. It might be the Les Trem that makes the high E go out of tune/break, it might be the constant Tele and Jazzmaster lust.

Pretty much, I want a Telecaster because I really love the awesome Tele sound. I've played my friend's Highway 1 and I love it. I'd like to get one, but there's not one that's mid-priced ($600 +/- $100) that I've really loved, aesthetically. One that I've been looking at is the Fender 69' Thinline Tele. They look kind of nice, but I think a nice tortoise guard would look really nice on one.

So, bone stock, how does a Thinline play? Sustain, sound, etc.

Paging Danglybanger!

The other guitar I've been absolutely lusting over is the Fender Jazzmaster. I know nothing about this guitar except: A.) Nels Cline uses one and B.) The bridge isn't it's best feature. I really like the look of them, but I've never played one, nor have I ever really heard one (besides Wilco). I'm downloading some Dinosaur Jr and My Bloody Valentine right now, as well as some surf rock. I've heard mixed opinions over the sound. What is your opinion? These guys are also expensive. How do the Japanese ones differ? Where can I get a Japanese one in the states?

I plan on gigging with this guitar.

Thanks dudes!

Rob.

You just named the two Fenders I would most like to own.

A Tele thinline is a wonderful guitar: fat and chunky like a Les Paul, yet with a healthy dose of Tele snap.

As for the Jazzmaster: I think of them as a Strat with a fatter, mellower tone. The JM bridge tone is gorgeous, and there's nothing else out there like it.

For the jazzmaster, the bridge bothers me plus it has a trem that I rarely use and it's not worth being there for me...

You can try ebay for a japanese jazzmaster (or strat or tele) there are loads...

I suggest going to a big guitar shop one day even if this means that you have to get out of town for a day... It will be worth it because you ll play everything and you can eventually get what you really like...

And btw that tele would be a nice choice definately...

I have a tele body that I don't need. Your welcome to it if you would like it. It was set up by Fender custom shop with Fender lace pups H/S and a trem. Solid body though. A good idea might be to get a neck from Warmoth, they make better necks than Fender and fit nicely and are licenced by Fender. You can have the body for free and the accessories cheep. I would suggest different pups though.
Body free
neck 200-300
electronics 250
building your own guitar...priceless

Re: Little burn out on my guitar... help? Tele/Jazz content

the bridge shouldn't bother you as long as you get it set up properly.

I can tell you how to do that ;)

The trem will probably stay in tune better than a les trem... I can abuse mine. I think of it as a floyd with limitted range :D

I don't know how it would compare to a thinline tele, but think of a Jazzmaster as a cooler, laid back sounding strat... kinda.
