It's a thing of beauty that AFD. I'd just avoid it altogether unless you feel like selling a car or something to find it. (Which is tempting)

Re: Local GC has a Slash marshall head in

I've played the heck out of Jubilees, having owned a 100W and 50W, and still think they're superior amps to the Slash AFD. The AFD is OK, but it's a tiny bit thinner and the note to note separation isn't quite as good as the Jubilee. I think the AFD is a bit more prone to malfunction as well, based on what I've read, and know for a fact that the Jubilees are as durable as all the other 800's.

However, clean Jubilees are getting impossible to find at normal prices. The black Jubilees are really rare, as are the JCM Slash's. If you find one cheaper than an AFD, it's a better deal.

On a side note, I tried the little 5W combo w/Vin 30 and think it's a great highgain Marshall combo. It even cops great Marshall midgain tones too. Decent cleans. I'd like to have one, but may wait to scoop up a used one.
What I'm really hoping for is for Marshall to release a 5W Slash head. I sure hope they do, although the H&K Tubemeister 18 beats most in it's class.

I cranked the **** out of an AFD with a Les Paul Trad through a Marshall Dave Mustaine 4x12 at a store.
It was damn fun, and it was a damn good sound. Pure rock and roll.

I don't have much to compare that too, and God knows if it's worth $2300 of your pesos.
I wouldn't buy one because I think I'm not a Marshall fan, but it's one hell of an amp.

Ceriatone makes a good clone. The clones I have heard are pretty nice.

I would rather have the well built, hand wired Ceriatone.
They have all kinds of options that will be much cheaper than the Marshall.
You could even by the complete chassis new from Ceriatone... order the head cab and Marshall logo from Mojo..... and still be way ahead of the used "real thing".
good luck

And you would have an expensive clone that doesnt hold value if you ever decide to flip it. The AFD might be expensive but the prices are pretty stable. While not everyone is looking to flip gear its still a valid consideration.

Meh.....
I do not buy new amps, and can build and repair my own.
Not sure, but it looks like maybe these Slash models were a limited production.?
But no doubt you are correct.....most new gear takes a big hit when the first owner tries to sell it.....but the popularity of the Slash model seems to hold its own .....they are hard to come by, and the AFD letters are very popular.
This is a great time to buy "normal" used gear. :)
best
