Locking nut from late 80's budget guitar

Anybody have parts from this piece of junk tremolo lying around in a parts bin? I lost the locking nut for it. Thanks.

It says Floyd Rose? Or is that "Not A Floyd Rose"? Or "Shoulda got a Floyd Rose"? :lol:

At any rate, any locking nut will work. Floyd, Kahler, whatever else is out there. Depends mostly on how the nut area is cut, if at all.

The stamp reads MFG FLOYD ROSE PATENT. They came on late 80's no name guitars and budget BC Rich and budget Epiphone. I am hoping to buy the bridge and lock nut so I can use for parts to fix mine up.

GOOD NEWS - I have the base plate and saddles of one of those vibrato bridges. The pot metal sustain block literally crumbled away. I may still have some of the string anchoring parts too.

BAD NEWS #1 - My example of the vibrato is finished in pitted chrome.

BAD NEWS #2 - I am located in the UK.

If I recall correctly, the string clamp with those bridges had a curved underside. It was intended to mount behind the nut on a Fender style headstock.

To be honest, it might prove wiser to forget the clamp and upgrade to locking machineheads.

You are right. I don't need it to function, only need it to cover the truss rod bolt and the two screw holes in the headstock.

Honestly I would just use some locking tuners. I recommend Grover mini rotomatics.

I actually have a set but I think they're opposite to your headstock.

I agree, but that gap is pretty fugly

Just get a piece of pickguard material and make a new truss rod cover that extends to the nut

That might take a Kahler-style behind-the-nut locking clamp, so locking tuners will be just as good. However, those were held with 4 screws. This looks like they put a Floyd-style nut (two screws) behind the nut.

Also looks like a standard Jackson/Charvel trussrod cover should replace that one and fill the gap. Or you could remove it completely.

I plan to block this bridge with a piece of wood, so in that case do I need locking tuners or just a good set of regular ones?
As far as keeping the bolt cover off, it's a good idea, but i wanted to clear varnish the head stock and if I use plastic wood to fill the screw holes, they will still show.

If you're blocking the bridge completely, then locking tuners would not be needed, nor would a locking nut.
