pinto79 and I have been talking about this since early this year (if not long before that), but I've now finally handed him some money to make it happen, so it's official now. I'm getting a custom built Lockwire guitar from him.

He's made a few custom builds for other people, and has a few in the works right now in addition to mine. His early builds were excellent, and the stuff he's putting out now is even better IMO.
This is a thread from a couple years ago showcasing one of his original designs:

Mine won't be like that. I've asked him to give me his take on a Strat, essentially. His guitars use Latin plant names, so I chose a rose (Rosa) as that's the emblem of my home province (plus the guitar will be red).
Specs:
Body wood: swamp ash
Body finish: transparent red, clear gloss
Routing: top-routed, HSH, standard Strat control cavity and jack
Heel: sculpted heel with "Ibanez-style" joint (four independent counter-sunk bolts)
Neck wood: one piece maple
Neck finish: clear gloss headstock face, oil finish on the rest
Radius: 12"
Frets: Dunlop 6105
Number of frets: 22
Back contour: super soft V transitioning to C around the 9th fret (basically a clone of my Gretsch Duo Jet's neck)
Headstock: Lockwire six-in-line tilt-back
Nut: Graphtec String Saver
Tuners: Sperzel locking
Bridge: Hipshot hard-tail bridge, string-through
Pickguard: Strat W/B/W
Neck pickup: SD Pearly Gates, black
Middle pickup: SD Vintage Hot Stack, black
Bridge pickup: SD Custom Shop humbucker (specs TBD after I talk to MJ)
Switch: 5 position Superswitch
Pot 1: master volume, 500k Bourns
Pot 2: neck pickup tone, 500k push-pull
Pot 3: bridge pickup tone, 500k push-pull
Jack: standard Strat top jack plate
Switching is going to be a bit crazy, and I'm still not 100% decided on that, so I'll leave that for another post.
I'm going to use this thread to track the progress of the build, post pics, etc. This will be a pretty hands-on custom build for me, and I intend to be a pain in pinto's ass until this thing is finished.
Yay!
