look at the head stock. just look at it, and try not to spit beer on your computer sc

Re: look at the head stock. just look at it, and try not to spit beer on your compute

I find it funny too. What an abomination of a headstock logo. Slash is overrated....

Looks fine to me too in terms of whether its a gibson or not. Ive never been a big fan of artist tribute axes, but as far as it goes, that guitar looks legit.

Re: look at the head stock. just look at it, and try not to spit beer on your compute

maybe i'm seeing something that isn't there.
to me it looks freakishly long for an LP-standard head stock
maybe the slash headstock is elongated compared to other LPs

Re: look at the head stock. just look at it, and try not to spit beer on your compute

Am I the only one that sees Slash as the equivalent of Peaked in High School Rob Lowe? I can't think of anything memorable he's done since GNR- yet he continues to make music, tour, etc...Not worthy of so many signature models beyond the AFD Les Paul

The first Velvet Revolver album was amazing. Back when they were all still doing drugs.

I can't stand Myles Kennedy. His bassist Todd Kearns does a pretty decent Axl impersonation though.

As a whole, no he hasn't done anything that can compete with GN'R material. But there are some hidden gems in his solo stuff, and the VR records that is genuinely great. He is doing what he loves and doing it for himself and I can respect that.

I can't really say he's doing what he wants, as compared to throwing stuff out there. Other artists grow as musicians- even Zack Wylde had his acoustic and country phase- Clapton had many different phases, as did Page and EVH. Slash hasn't, unless you count him adding the octafuzz to his guitar solos

Re: look at the head stock. just look at it, and try not to spit beer on your compute

I don't think that just because he didn't go through "phases" as an artist, means he isn't doing what he wants. He likes that old school, aerosmith-meets-iggy pop kind of rock and roll, and that's what he's playing.

Well, the ad got pulled so there's that...

The late B.B. King didn't go through phases really... he stuck with the blues his entire career cause that's what he loved... who's to say Slash isn't the same in that sense? Maybe he does what he does now cause that's what he loves... If he's passionate about it and it comes through in the songs than I can dig it. Even if it isn't my usual cup of tea.

Long story short a musician doesn't have to go through phases... If someone finds a style they love why not stick with it?

BB King didn't have to go through phases- he was a different artist- a singer, songwriter, guitarist and performer so he added more to the table. I think BB's voice was as powerful as his guitar playing, just like SRV. Slash doesn't offer as much...

We can say Angus Young is in a similar boat, but for some reason his playing isn't as monotonous

It doesn't matter what type of artist the person is... If that person finds a style they love and they decide to stick with it then that's their choice and more power to em. That seems to be what Slash has done. He's found what he enjoys about playing and has stuck with it. I can respect that...

I was actually a huge fan of Slash- he made me pick up the guitar when AFD came out, my first real guitar was a 1986 Factory second Les Paul that I refinished to copy his AFD guitar- I'm just disappointed he hasn't come out with anything that can match GNR

I don't get it.

Neither did gnr after izzy left.

The headstock is mis-shaped. Look at the treble side at the top. It should be symmetrical. It's not the camera angle, as the tuning posts are equally visible from the top. The light is coming from the side, not the front. It's a fake, unless the Slash LP head is shaped that way.

...Velvet Revolver...

^
This is the band name that should be next to the Slash graphic. I'm surprised that he and/or Gibson have been allowed to use the GNR logo since he ceased to be a member of that band.

It says R&FnR, unless your looking somewhere else and I missed it?
