Look, I have a new strat. (pics, of course)

Very nice! I've always felt that if you're going to play a common model like a strat, it should at least look unique. Your combination of parts works nicely. I'm sure the mahogany and that humbucker will put the sound closer to a LP style guitar.

With my silver HS strat with 3 way toggle, it's a very simple but effective layout.
For some reason, and maybe it's just my imagination, it seems like the HS layout rings better. Probably because there's no middle pickup pulling on the strings.

Thanks again for the compliments guys.

This body does ring rather nicely. That could be because there's one less pickup sucking the vibration out of the strings. I don't miss the middle pickup, that's for sure. If I need a middle pickup I'll pickup another strat. I already knew the mahogany and the Crazy 8 worked very well together from when the Cr8 was in an SG. Tonally, so far this guitar really bridges the gap between SG and strat. I need more time with it, but it sounding like it has the warmth and midrange you'll find in an SG, but with the snap and attack more akin to a strat. So far, so good.

It is indeed a "simple" layout. With the mini toggle in the center (off) position it functions just like any Gibson layout. I'm having more fun with the mini switch than I thought I would, though. I originally hadn't planned on splitting the Cool Rails. When I repaired the leads that had snapped at the baseplate I almost permanently attached the red and white, but I'm glad I didn't. Half the Cool Rails with the "screw" coil of the Cr8 has a little of that tele middle position vibe. No one will ever mistake it for a tele, but it certainly has that kind of flavor... a lot of spank.
