Found a picture of Stratdeluxer97. Got my DS1 back from John today. It's worlds away from the fizzy stock DS1. Really smooth, even sounds more powerful to me overall. I guess I would say it's more of a full bodied tone. Still has a nice edge to it, but very well rounded. I would recommend his work to anybody. Thanks John.

That pedal (aside from a wah) is the most fun to mod. It starts off sounding pretty good, but a few tweaks here and there, and it sounds great. There are also so many combinations of mods to do, it can come out sounding a bunch of different ways, all being useful.

Yeah, definitely. A DS-1 is limited in what it can do, but it does it pretty well. The mods John did seem to have added a nice low end growl to it, while reducing the high end fizziness. It didn't really matter where I put the knobs before, it would always be that same fizzy crunch. Now the knobs are a bit more responsive. I find the setting I like most is the way they were set when it got here today, with the tone at 1:30 and the distortion at 10:30. I've tweaked it around a fair bit and I still have to get more accquanted with it, there's different tones available through eq'ing and tone knob adjusting, but so far thats the setting that seems most balanced with my amp. It fits it's role perfectly as the pedal to step on when I want to get heavy. I'm looking for a TS9 to send him for a nice overdrive, get a nice Yin/Yang thing going on my pedalboard.

Yup. John does some great work. He's done a TS9, a Vox 847, and a Vintage Crybaby for me. All work really well and they all sound great
