Lookie What I Got! (pic-a-pimp included)

Hee, it was one of those days.

Today I decided to call this guy a friend of mine some time ago recommended to resurrect the frets on my MiM Strat and asked him when I could take it over for a look. He said today and so I did.

Not holding any words he told me flat out that the guitar was butchered almost to the point of no return and I emotionally prepared myself for the price he'd ask. Instead I got a truly reasonable price, one that most techs would ask just for 2 pickup switches...

Then he picked up this black guitar that had a purple thing glued between the neck and middle pu. Upon closer examination it was clear it wasn't a production guitar but rather handmade. He handed it to me and immediately I was taken back by the neck. It was as if it was made especially for me, exactly what I wanted. Then he plugged it in (the jack was at the weirdest place until he explained to me that it was so that the cable would go through the strap) and...
this must be how heaven must sound...

He immediately noticed how much I liked it (it really wasn't all that hard :p) and started praising how great an instrument it was. After that he confessed that he had built it himself for those moments when he'd want to pickup an electric and go into overdrive but that mainly he was an acoustic player and it didn't really got the playing it deserved (he actually decided to sell it last night and brought it to his store just today!!!)
Seeing where this was going I told him that I really liked it but didn't had all that much and wasn't sure I could afford it. Sure enough, when he told me the price I said I couldn't but it was close. I told him how much I had as well as how much extra I could fork out and...

It truly is a custom-made piece and shows it!
Hard Maple bolt on neck, a very beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard with abalone inlays (and the 22nd fret scalloped), Bubinga body, a genuine 1959 Fender single coil at the neck, a common as dirt RWRP single coil at the middle and a humbucker at the bridge taken from a USA Schecter !!!
Furthermore it has a Wilkinson bridge, I have no idea what tuners or pots (or cap) but it definitely has the treble bleed volume mod while the switch splits the bridge and activates the neck for N+B (or N+M+B) config and sounds amazing!!!

Oh, by the way, that purple thingy was a rock that he put there for decoration (along with a tiny strass at the long horn) as well as for personalization and character (and I actually like it!).

Ah, I never could have thought that when I entered a store for a fret dress I'd come out with a new guitar and a custom one none the less!!!
All in all, I'd say I'm happy (and for once in my life actually lucky).:friday:

I wish more necks had the dots on the side, I like that for some reason.

Actually I'm still not used to it and when I try to jump several frets I miss but, I guess I'll get there in time...

I like how it looks, but the rock thingy is a pain in the eye.

Heh, funny thing is it's supposed to be the guitar's eye :p

Actually it's a thing that grows on you, I didn't like it all that much at the beginning until I started playing. It is glued exactly at the spot I pick (unless I'm palm muting) so I get to see it a lot and after a while I liked looking at it.

Originally I thought of taking it off but now I like how it makes it even more unique ;)
