looking at replacing tubes...

time to refresh them in my genz benz el diablo.

currently has 12ax7c preamps in there. looking to keep a good metal tone.

what are jj like? others?

I'm looking at replacing power tubes myself, and from my research, if their preamp tubes are anything alike their power amp tubes, jjs are good for taking out headroom. Meaning probably you would get more preamp distortion with them. I personally don't know, but that's my guess. I'm really not one with tubes.

I personally have never found an amp I like JJ 12ax7's in. Alot of people like them but I don't happen to be one of those people! I've tried every (new) tube brand out there and lately really love the Tung-Sol 12ax7 reissue. Check out DOUGS TUBES........he's got a knack for picking out the right tube based on the amp and the sound desired. Chinese 12ax7 are nice too.
