Looking for 7 string fixed bridge. Not string-through-body

Hi Guys,

I am looking for a 7 string fixed bridge that has top-side string mounting. So i dont' want the strings going through the body.

A hipshot type bridge would be ideal. I want a bridge that rests on the body - not a stop piece and tailpiece combination.

Do you guys know of such a product?

I am also looking for a 7 string BRASS nut. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Looking for 7 string fixed bridge. Not string-through-body

The hipshot routes through the back dude.

What do you have against stringthru??

Re: Looking for 7 string fixed bridge. Not string-through-body

I can't do stringthrough. Physically impossible.

There is a T-Beam going neck-through style through the guitar. The leg of the T beam is 1.9 CM wide. In that 1.9 CM area, I cannot drill anything. So unless I can drill the holes on angles (to bypass the T-Beam) or something, I cannot do string-through.

Re: Looking for 7 string fixed bridge. Not string-through-body

I actually have 2 alternatives.

I can use a string-through-body bridge, but i'll have to either:
1. Drill holes on angles to avoid the 1.9 CM T-Beam leg.
2. Or I could cheat, and instead of going through body, I could loosen the bridge plate off the body a little, then slip the strings from the back and screw the bridge back on, effectively locking the strings between the body (aluminum) and the bridge plate.

Yep i'm crazy. But i'll get this darn thing huffn' and puffn' if it kills me.

****, ok - I get it haha.

Try posting over at Sevenstring.org - I can't think of any wraparound or single-piece style hardtail bridges for 7's that aren't string thru!

Re: Looking for 7 string fixed bridge. Not string-through-body

pretty sure you're SOL man and tunomatic+stopbar might be your only option. If you are god with custom fabs you could get a licensed floyd and custom fab some sort of system to bolt it to the body like a new base plate which just has screws on it.

Re: Looking for 7 string fixed bridge. Not string-through-body

If I cannot find a non string through 7 string bridge, I will go with a 6 string.

Re: Looking for 7 string fixed bridge. Not string-through-body

I'm looking at some 6 string top loaders then

There are quite a few different ones with big price differences. I might get the one with adjustible spacing.

Re: Looking for 7 string fixed bridge. Not string-through-body

What about a 7 string TOM? I am pretty sure those exist.

Re: Looking for 7 string fixed bridge. Not string-through-body

What about ABM single peace bridges. you can buy 7 (I did it with my 8) and they are top loaded!

Re: Looking for 7 string fixed bridge. Not string-through-body

You could get a 7-string Floyd, remove the block (and maybe some other small mods) and mount it to the top. It would be like the fixed Edge that Ibanez uses on Mick Thompson's guitar.

Re: Looking for 7 string fixed bridge. Not string-through-body

My 7 is a stoptail and TOM bridge so that's about your options.

Re: Looking for 7 string fixed bridge. Not string-through-body

Thanks guys. Those ABMs look nice, but i think i'll stay more traditional. Maybe i could even snatch a 6 string top loader from a local music store, without having to order.

I do not trust a TOM being mounted into the spruce body, I want a bridge that lays flat on the aluminum surface. For some reason i think it will resonate quite nice.
