True, but it is helpful to have the right pickup to begin with. Personally, the Jazz bridge is too bright for me, in any guitar.
See, I'm just worried a Jazz bridge might come across as too bright in a Strat-like Alder body. LPs have more wood and sound darker to begin with. So, it makes sense for you. But, I wouldn't want to be overly bright. But, I guess that's what EQ and the tone knob is for.
