Looking for a good quality preamp for project studio

Im getting my gear up for a project studio do record my bands guitar and bass tracks.. ive got most things already decided on but im still trying to figure out witch preamp i should get. My first choice was the FMR RNP, because its dual channel and from everything ive heard it does a good job for the price, also looked at GT The Brick and True systems P-Solo that i was also told to check out. The problem is id have to get these things online because i cant find no dealers arround here so i can try em out first so pitching in more than 500$ on something i am unsure of makes it a hard decision..

Any suggestions or pointers or reviews on any good preamps? having hard time finding good reviews or sties with info.. it will be used for recording SM-57s and MD-421s on guitars and bass will probably be a combo of DI and miced.. its mostly for rock/metal kinda of music tho some acoustic/clean tones will be used also. Im willing to pay good for a good unit but cant go over 1k, and preferably double channel tho if i have to sacrifice a channel for a better sounding unit i will make the sacrifice since i could always get a second one eventualy.

I think you're on the right track with the RNP. It will give you the two channels you need and a very good quality signal at a very reasonable price.

Cheers..............................wahwah

If I was spending $500-1K on an outboard preamp I'd pick up a UA Solo 610 or a Chameleon Labs 7620/7622. That being said I already have a decent sounding studio setup, these would be to have an alternate, more colored preamp sound.
