I have a LP style neck & fretboard, & looking for a LP style body with multi binding LP custom style.
Anyone know where I can find such a thing?
cheers

Re: looking for a LP custom body

1st stop.....same place you got the neck.

Anything else and you are over 90% likely to have to do woodwork to make the two fit properly......what are you thoughts on 4+ hours worth of painstaking chisel and sandpaper work to make things work out??

Do you have the duplicate thread over at MLP??

Re: looking for a LP custom body

So you don't know where I can get one?
Thanks for contributing

Re: looking for a LP custom body

There are lots of places to get bodies.

For the reasons I listed (which you have dismissed as irrelevant seemingly) you will have to be careful with sourcing it as you need a perfect match in 5 faces to make it work.

If you cannot be bothered to acknowledge that mating bodies and neck is complicated then I cannot help you more.

Re: looking for a LP custom body

I acknowledge it plenty, it's a tough job to change the clutch on a car also, but if I asked where a good place I could get a clutch from, I doubt I'd get the condascending:
'Do you know how difficult it is to change a clutch?' response
Thanks for your help it's been stellar
If anyone else can point me in the direction of where I can get a LP body I'd be very appreciative,
sorry to everyone else for the rant

Re: looking for a LP custom body

You'd get the 'what sort of car do you have and what are the fittings for the clutch......so much for that brainless analogy.

Anyway as you seem incapable of accepting help and merely want someone to do the simple work you could have done if you possessed even the least bit of initiative I'll bid you a permanent goodbye

Re: looking for a LP custom body

Lol If you think changing the clutch on a car is on the same level as mating a set neck to a body, then you're either extremely talented, or you've got some surprises headed your way.

Re: looking for a LP custom body

Is your neck intended to be a bolt on or a glue-in?

Try contacting Precision Guitar Kits. They might be able to sell you a body with no tenon rout. Then it'd be up to you to take it from there. If you understand intermediate woodworking, including jig and template fabrication using basic geometry, you'll be fine. They will be kind of expensive, though.

Warmoth sell LP-esque bodies intended for bolt-on necks. If you have a neck that is designed to be glued in, you can custom order the body without a neck pocket. But these bodies don't look that close to LPs any more (they used to, but Gibson forced them to change the bodies a bit, so not they have a pointy cutaway).

There are probably other companies that make LP bodies, but I don't know them off hand.

You could also try to pick up a Gibson or Epiphone LP Custom that has had the neck broken off. Might need to lie in wait patiently for a while, but they turn up as project guitars from time to time. That's a bigger project, as the old neck has to be cleanly removed first...but it might be fairly affordable (especially if it's an Epi).

Alex,I try hard not to bite on the internet but occasionally someone is so pretentious & self important I just can't help myself.
I came here & posted asking for a bit of advice where I could source a part, you decided you couldn't or wouldn't help but still decided to post, sneering at the lack of skills you perceive I have, & then acting like the internet police questioning if I have a duplicate post on on other forums.

I did not dismiss joining a lp neck & body as easy, YOU projected that upon me, just as you did when you claimed I had no initiative. You seem to be under the impression I'm just going to get the first body I see & simply super glue it to my neck & then be unhappy with the result.

If you must know I've been sitting on some old & rare parts for while & would really like to finally put on a guitar.

I haven't built a set neck guitar before but plenty of partscasters, luckily however a neighbour has been building violins & mandolins since he retired (around a decade's worth of experience) he's almost as excited about this project as I am & has kindly offered to practically walk me through it.

incapable of accepting help!?:
Just where exactly have you offered the slightest bit of help, in fact you infer you know of plenty of places to source the part I need but for your own selfish reasons have decided I'm not worthy of you sharing this information.

I'll also bid you a permanent goodbye, I won't miss you in the slightest

Re: looking for a LP custom body

ItsaBass,

Thanks for your reply, I'm not to keen on warmoth, great quality but bolt on & the shape isn't right as you pointed out.
I have contacted PGK but they only really want to sell the kits with their own neck joints, buying a kit & trying to modify it is an option, but probably not the most ideal one.

There's a company called eurospruce that also make 1959 spec cnc guitars I emailed them but they don't respond.

I have toyed with buying a used epi from ebay & just steaming the neck off & replacing it, but as some 'internet experts' have pointed out i might be opening a big can of hurt trying to join a body & neck that just don't want to be wed.

I know I'm asking for something pretty specific that's why I reached out to the internet (&look where that got me lol!)
affordability isn't too big an issue I can throw some money at this if I feel I'll be getting a good quality part, I'm talking to a bespoke builder atm hopefully we can reach a deal.

This is still just preliminary so if anyone knows where I could get what I'm looking for I'd still be very very grateful

Thanks again for posting a positive reply, maybe I shouldn't lose faith in my fellow man after all ;)

Re: looking for a LP custom body

You're welcome. Sorry it didn't lead you to an answer.

Any chance you can post a pic of the neck? I'm curious to see it.

Re: looking for a LP custom body

I think I may have found what I need, as requested however photos of the neck

Re: looking for a LP custom body

Anyone who could add a fretboard and truss to that, then fret it well, could make a body to fit it easier than search one out that would be usable, IMHO. The body is easy.
