Looking for a nasty/bassy distortion pedal...

Re: Looking for a nasty/bassy distortion pedal...

The title of the thread screams Big Muff. But I guess it's not exactly your style of music.
You can try and use it for your playing and you'll have an original tone... it can't be bad... If it's not good enough maybe the Metal Muff will do the trick - if it sounds anything like the BM.
I didn't like the Silver Dragon, it sounds a little lifeless to me- but it can get dark and nasty.
You can als try the Dimebag signature MXR pedal. It's NASTY sounding and it has eq's so you can dial in the tones you like...

Re: Looking for a nasty/bassy distortion pedal...

Don't know where you played one but the Silver Dragon is one of the most gainy things out there. On second channel this thing is pure chainsaw distortion or even fuzz(if you turn the level up and the volume down to avoid feedback). I don't know a pedal with more gain on tap.

Agreed, it has huge amounts of gain and tons of compression on channel two, but to me it doesn't really sound suited for extreme metal. I just read the first post, and this guy doesn't seem to be wanting that anyway, so the Dragon seems to be a good recommendation.

As to where I played one, check my sig;)

Swords, you have all 3 versions of the Metal Muff, don't you? Which one do you like best?
