Looking for a new amp (maybe classic 30)

Tried a Classic 30 today. One of the best sounding amps i have played. Looks like i'm going to be leaving the behringer 212 at school for jazz band, so i need a new amp for home. The classic 30 might be the one. I have an upper spending limit of about $500. A good SS amp would be fine too, but tube would be prefferable. Suggestions? I almost bought the peavey today. :laugh2:

Keep in mind, those amps are clean toned blues amps. Judging by your name and avatar, I'd go for one that can give you a great highgain sound.
I paid $425 out the door for my Vox Valvetronix head, and use it on a 2-12 or 4-12. It's the best practice rig I've owned, since it can emulate my tube amps like the Bogner, Matchless, and Fender. They never sound that great in stores, but once you take it home, plug it into a good cab, and dial in the amps with the 3 overdrive settings, you can get better tones than almost any tube amp at lower levels.

You can also use it as a direct recording amp, or use it with headphones. The variable wattage selector allows you to get great lead tones at barely audible volumes. You'll get much more out of that setup than a loud little clean tube combo!

Gearjonser, I really liked the tones I could get from the Classic 30 and it had almost enough distortion for me on it's own. I dont play super high gain metal. I'm already using a distortion pedal as a boost for my behringer. Also, there arent any Vox dealers where i live

Just wondering if anyone could give me some more details about it, since I am going to need an amp VERY soon. Tomorrow the behringer's going to stay at school, i'm going to be stuck with a 10 watt walmart practice amp for a while. ahhhh

I own a Classic 30 and it is a good little amp.... I got lucky and bought the combo with matching tweed ext cab used for $500 Canadian... Great deal!!! Anyways it is one loud little mother! My main amp is a 5150 head and cab so i am a guitarist who enjoys higain.... The Classic 30 really comes alive when you get the volume up just around 4 and above.... The amp starts to distort more and more from the power tubes and i find myself turning the pre gain way down. I also enjoy an amp with a lot of low end and i find that with my Classic 30 i mostly have the BASS controll on full! The extention cab has a closed back and when i add that cab the bass response is greatly improved. I find the reverb to be too sensitive as a little reverb is often way too much.. I find i never have the reverb on mine above 2...

All in all i have been extremely happy with my Classic 30... It is the amp i use most to Jam and when i had a band i used to leave that amp at the drummers house.... Now that i have it at home i find it is the first amp a grab out of the 7 tube amps i have to take anywhere. It is light to carry and loud! I bought an amp stand that tilts it back like a monitor for clubs. Many guitarist, pro and weekend jammers, in my area have caught onto what nice amps the Classic 30 can be. For the same new price i think i would also have a look at a Traynor.... Traynor have some amps in the same price range as the Classic 30. But for what i paid for the Classic 30 i LOVE it!!!! I also own a Classic 50 as well....

Anyone notice that Peavey is releasing a head version of the Classic 30 and a 2x12 cab...... The head's list price is only $50 less then the Combo's list price.... You would be crazy not to buy the combo... With the combo you can always add an ext cab anyways so i don't know why anyone would buy the head and cab for a much higher price....
