Looking For a New Head - Tubes Please?

I have a Fender Vibro Champ XD that I love, and I was wondering if it came in a head version? I've got a Marshall 4 X 12 cab to run it through, I'm just looking for a little more volume and power. Anyone have any reccomendations possibly for another tube amp? I play mostly blues and southern rock. Thanks ya'll!

First thing that comes to mind is the Supersonic 22 head. Fender also makes a 15w Super Champ XD head.

Hmm how do they compare sonically?

I just realized the Vibro Champ is a modeling amp, I guess I should ask what sounds you like out of it that you want to find in a tube amp?

Re: Looking For a New Head - Tubes Please?

Yep, a modelling amp will give you may options for possible tones - the tube amp will have 1 (a damn nice one though).

Re: Looking For a New Head - Tubes Please?

Think carefully here...simply being all tube does NOT always mean good tone. There are plenty of sonic turds in the tube world. You could do far worse than the Super Champ XD head.

Re: Looking For a New Head - Tubes Please?

And you can do far better - but I agree care is needed in selection.

Sorry for the late reply y'all, but really a bluesy sound, I have a les paul and a strat I'm playing it through, and preferably less than $300 used

Did you try running the XD through your 4x12.?

Re: Looking For a New Head - Tubes Please?

oh man you need to try it through the 412 cab, my friend let me borrow his fender super champ xd for a show since my amp was in the shop (before I got my marshall JVM and my carvin x100b (best amp I have ever had)) and I used my 212 cab with it and it was plenty load. it seemed much load through the 212 cab then the internal stock 10" speaker.
