Looking for a nice clean sounding amp

I `m on a budget and looking for a little amp to mainly play clean on (I`ve got another amp for distortion) I want to stay in the $150-$300 range and it doesn`t matter if it`s tubes or solid state and doesn`t have to be loud . How`s the Fender Pro Jr.?

Thanks

anything Fender is your best bet for good cleans

Re: Looking for a nice clean sounding amp

Find a used Fender Deville or Hotrod Deville or Hotrod Deluxe. Or a Peavey Classic 30, Classic 50, or Delta tone. In the $275 - $350 range, those are the best sounding clean amps. The Hotrod Deville 2-12 has a clean tone that's so good, you'd swear its a $1400 amp.

Re: Looking for a nice clean sounding amp

Just beware that the clean channel on the Deville 2x12 breaks up early, sometimes even on 3 if your pickups have enough output. It's a very nice and subtle breakup, but if you want a tube amp with lots of clean headroom I think the peaveys would be a little better. I was referring to the amp in stock form, and I'm sure that tube and speaker changes could effect this a lot.

And if its in your pricerange, a mesa .50 caliber + 112 combo. Ive got one and the cleans are unbelievable for such a little and relatively lightweight amp. You'll be blown away by it...but it might be a little out of your range, but if you find one second hand check it out.

I agree with Jolly and you won't have to go over your budget for many of their solid state combo's. Fender has always been praised for their cleans even when their dirty channels lacked.
