Looking for a PC tuner

I do my setups with my guitar connected to my PC through a Focusrite 2i4. Guitar is tuned to C, but the tuner in Bias FX is a f**ing joke. I've tried a bunch of different 3rd part apps (Pitch Perfect, TB Strobe tuner) and none of them seem able to handle low tunings or input devices other than an actual microphone.

Anyone tried a program they can recommend?

The tuner in Logic Pro is rock solid and VERY accurate. I don’t know if that’s available as a stand-alone for Mac, let alone PC, though.

The one to get is AP Tuner, accurate within 1/10 cent. It is about to get a major update, too.

I'm having the same problem here: I can select my sound card as input device, but the software doesn't recognize any input signal. I wonder if its the focusrite drivers messing with things again? Only I have no problems getting Reaper to play nicely with the sound card?

I am using a Focusrite Saffire DSP24 interface, and it seems to be working. I also use it on an old XP-based Netbook with the generic Windows drivers. I also use the iOS version of the app, but it is $5 or so.

Do you have Reaper open at the same time? Alot of interfaces will only allow one program to take control.

Also Bias FX tuner isn't the best but works fine for me for my purposes, if you're having trouble at lower tunings use your 12th fret harmonic.

No, not running Reaper at the same time. For guitar setups, I just run Bias in standalone mode.

I've been using the same blue $10 Ibanez clip-on tuner for tracking for 5 years at least. It needs a new battery annually. It has a solid software and is OS independent.

A lot of people will say the clip ons aren't accurate enough to do intonation, but they work at least as good as my ears. I've lost count of how many of them I have, but I'd definitely say the Petersen Strobe model will handle intonation.

I already own a clip on, and on my main rif I have a Korg PB poly. So I'm not really looking for anything like that, I'm talking specifically software.

Accuracy. The clip-on is pretty close but since I'm hooked up to the computer anyway (for now, at least) I figured I might as well use that, and my guess is it would be more dead-on. I'm also playing in C on a 24.75 scale guitar, so getting the intonation right is already a bit of a PITA.

Good luck in the search. I've been hooked on the clip-ons for awhile, just super convenient always having them independent of anything else.

Considering how getting that low C to intonate perfectly on that scale isn't going to happen, I wouldn't want to spend a bunch of money trying to do it. What gauge strings are you using?

I'm not a nazi about tuning and intonation. If it doesn't sound out of tune, I'm good with it.

Jesus. I play 11-52s in standard tuning. How floppy are those strings you're trying to intonate?

Not the worst I've played, not the tightest either.
Pretty funny, I used to play 11 - 52 on my LP back in the day. I just got so used to these when I joined the band and now I doubt I could play in standard with 11s. My hands are pathetically weak atm [emoji28]
