Re: Looking for a really smooth overdrive pedal
I am not after a transparent volume boost, that I already have (Zoom power drive Pd01) which is only good for that.
I am after an overdive that kind of colours the sound of my amp cause my amp has only one channel and the overdrive on it sounds like its trying to be smooth but its quite fuzzy and buzzy when the gain is light to moderate like its breaking up in the low end and other frequencies, its quite a warm amp. For solidsate, Its a Vox pathfinder 15R.
I love its tone very warm and jangly clean, and its cheap. I use a Marshall Guvnor 2 for distortion and crunch sounds which has an amazing smooth tone and clarity to my ears and suits the amp well. My amps light to moderate overdrive category is not so good.
I tried a Hot cake yesterday and It was good its own kind of way but not smooth enough and I could hear too much of my amps gain coming through.
Very nice pedal but too pricey.
