looking for a starter axe for a friend

Ok, so I remember a while back someone had a squire scalloped with duncan designs in it. I was wondering if that was still around, or if anyone had a guitar for a starter? I'm pretty particular in what I want to get for him, so I'm looking around the $200 mark too. Also, practice amps? Thanks for any help if you can.:thanks:

I have something for her/him on the cheap - but it's less abused than most of the guitars that get raped by kids at GC. Check your PM's.

That Squier was pretty cool, and Uopt got it, and I bugged him to sell it to me as I procrastinated a while when KAC was selling it.

I have a Jackson JS20 I would let you get

I have only the bridge humbucker wired right now, as I wired the 5 way as a kill switch, but it has both single coils and all the wires are there. If you wanted me to send it as is without wiring the single coils, I could probably let it go for less. 5 way switches baffle me  The chrome cover has been removed from the bridge humbucker (Jackson JE10 humbucker, my favorite humbucker I have right now.)

Last year I redid all of the electronics with Fender potentiometers and a .023uf capacitor --- it's very responsive to volume and tone changes.

Clip 1 (it's all guitar parts in the song)

Clip 2 (again, it's used for everything you hear in the clip)

Clip 3 (used for solo only)

Clip 4 (every guitar part is the Jackson again)

I used it to record a lot in my alt rock phase --- it's got great action and I really love it's humbucker. It's light too.

Do you really think starting out on a scalloped neck is the way to go? I personally don't. Most folks that are just learning just totally press down way to hard and all that. Maybe it's just me.

Yeah I hear that. I am teaching an 11 year old right now and it's amazing how much technique and detail stuff experienced players like us know and do, but not consciously.

Anyways, if this kid had a scalloped fretboard I would probably jump out the window :laugh2:
