Looking for a uni-vibe pedal

I love the univibe sound. Several years back I modded my EHX small stone to sound more like a univibe, and keep the pedal on almost all the time these days. But the SS's single knob doesn't quite offer the range of control I want, and there's some volume drop when it's kicked on. I've tried the voodoo labs micro-vibe - too dark for the clean sound I like (sounds fine with gain though), the Danelectro cool cat vibe (sounded OK, but really **** build quality), and Dunlop Rotovibe (doesn't sound like a univibe . . . more like a regular phaser). I'm looking at a Dry Bell Vibe Machine, a Fulltone MDV, and the MXR M68 Uni-Vibe.

I want to be able to do the classic Hendrix and Floyd vibe sounds, sound good at both the slow and extreme settings, ideally require minimal knob tweaking to get great sounds . . . and I've got a Roland EV-5 pedal kicking around that it would be cool if it worked with.

Thoughts?

i dont have experience with the others but the fulltone does its trick well

Fulltone - I have the MDV2 and it’s fantastic.

I have the MXR, don't use it very much, but when I do, I do like the effect...

Re: Looking for a uni-vibe pedal

See if you can find a Digitech EX-7 Expression Factory the Uni-vibe is awesome on that pedal. It has a lot of other useful built-in effects but I really like the vibe in that pedal.

I roll with a T-Rex Viper. Maybe a bit light for classic Univibe style. Great pedal though.

I've always liked this pedal. though I don't own one. It does that cool string synth thing too.

Re: Looking for a uni-vibe pedal

I use either a Voodoo Lab or Earthquaker The Depths, but I’ve wanted a Fulltone or DryBell for a while now....

Cool . . . I'll keep an eye out for one of these.

Voodoo labs one is too dark, and I don't think it sounds great clean (although it's quite nice for distorted playing). I've tried the Earthquaker Depths pedal too. Not bad, but I dunno if it was the extra knobs confusing me or the setup it was plugged into or what . . . I couldn't easily get it to sound as lush as some of the really good vibe pedals I've played.

Yes, the Space Station is pretty cool. I also use the ADA Flanger clone and the Whammy in this from time to time. The hidden secret is there are seven distortion clones in this pedal, RAT, DOD 250, Big Muff...to boot. For $50 - $80 on the secondary market the thing is a steal.

Re: Looking for a uni-vibe pedal

I've tried a lot of them because I love that sound, too.

DryBell Vibe Machine V2
Earthquaker Depths
JAM Retro Vibe

Those are my top picks. I had the JAM at one point but it was too noisy with my hi-gain rig at the time. Gorgeous for cleans and medium OD though.

Re: Looking for a uni-vibe pedal

I used to have a Moen Shaky Jimi on my board, not as glamorous as the others but it sounded really good.

The one in my GT-1000 sounds really good too, I need to use that more!
