Re: Looking For Articulate Humbuckers For Blues/Classic Rock
If you want to take it one step further than the Jazz set, you can get something from Bartolini. His pickups have an unmatched string-to-string separation and clarity. The ultra clean Jazz alternative would be the V88-C neck and V88-D bridge, coupled with a TC-5 preamp with a low mid boost. It takes an experienced player to stretch the limits of that system, and I promise it will show you your flaws as well as highlight your nuances. But it will be a little dry, as the Jazz set can be.
For a sound with more midrange character and perhaps a more lively dynamic, go with the PBF 49/51 pair, or the 55/57 pair. You would love those, too.
If you want that Fred style ripping midrange, then do the 1D03 bridge and 1D01 neck. That will be like a properly matched Fred/Full Shred neck set.
