Looking For Articulate Humbuckers For Blues/Classic Rock

Re: Looking For Articulate Humbuckers For Blues/Classic Rock

If you want to take it one step further than the Jazz set, you can get something from Bartolini. His pickups have an unmatched string-to-string separation and clarity. The ultra clean Jazz alternative would be the V88-C neck and V88-D bridge, coupled with a TC-5 preamp with a low mid boost. It takes an experienced player to stretch the limits of that system, and I promise it will show you your flaws as well as highlight your nuances. But it will be a little dry, as the Jazz set can be.

For a sound with more midrange character and perhaps a more lively dynamic, go with the PBF 49/51 pair, or the 55/57 pair. You would love those, too.

If you want that Fred style ripping midrange, then do the 1D03 bridge and 1D01 neck. That will be like a properly matched Fred/Full Shred neck set.

I've thought about Bartolini pickups before, too. But, I have a hard time finding somewhere that I could actually get them from. I get my gear through MF or Music123 usually because I don't have a credit card, and I use their Western Union Quick Collect payment option because I'm not sending a check through the mail.

I know that. Lots of metal players use 'em. Dave Mustaine comes to mind first. I don't really do metal anymore, though.

I don't know that I would really consider the Jazz solely a metal pickup. I've not used the bridge pickup, but I would assume that it kills for Classic Rock and Blues. I know that the JazzN kills for those styles. I'm thinking that the Jazz bridge will be the next pickup I will try.

I didn't say that it's solely a metal pup. You must not have read things clearly, or I didn't explain things very well. I know that the Jazz isn't solely a metal pup. Erik was simply telling me that it was also great for metal, and I agreed. I know quite a few people on this forum who play blues and classic rock styles that use the Jazz, too. Seems to be great for just about everything.

The Jazz realy shines I must say it is one of the most underrated pickups for the Bridge.

back to the tele for a moment - the vintage stack for tele is very unforgiving .. you get out what you put in - the good the bad and the ugly (in my case, they call it 'garbage in - garbage out :D ) ... they are exactly what i was hoping for when i put them in my tele clone

agree on the jazz set for what you asked

good luck

WOW! I've been trying to get to JOLLY's sound clips for awhile. For some reason I would've thought he played Country/Southern Rock music, but WOW! That stuff is amazing heavy rock!

The man sure can PLAY!
