Looking for help on IDing this pup

I ordered an ESP Eclipse solid body back in 1998 and was going to have it upgraded to the Duncan '59/JB option. The shop I was ordering from told me they could upgrade it cheaper with the same pups from there used stock so I said go for it. Got the guitar way back then and never gave it a second thought and it has always sounded tip top. Anyway, long story short, I recently decided to pull them out to see what exactly I had relative to the date of them. Pulled the bridge pickup and it was label JBL w/large logo, no MiA, and small tag. So there was no problem there it is from '83-88' wound by Lidia Daniel.

Then I pulled out the neck pup and I am stumped. I've searched the forum and google but cannot find anything on this. So I'm hoping someone here can help me out on this pickup. I assumed it was a '59 but now I'm not sure. If I need to provide more photos or info to help just let me know. A million thanks in advance.

You got a Trembucker in the neck and never noticed?

Interesting... Anyway, that's a TB-11, aka the Custom Custom, a Custom with an A2 in it.

It almost looks like TB-11 B, which would make it a Custom Custom. At first I wondered what a Trembucker would be doing in the neck, then I realized that I'd probably have done something like that myself 5 years ago.

Thanks for the info. To have never noticed would imply that I knew better at the time, lol. I just rolled with what I was given and assumed it to be what I asked for. It actually sounds pretty good. I've always preferred it over the Jazz neck pickup in my other guitar (I have the boxes on those pups so I'm sure of what it is). Anyway, thank you for the swift replies and answers. I'll look into getting an actual neck pup now to compare it with but who knows in the end I may just keep it there.

So, you thought you were getting a '59 in the neck and it turned out to be a TB CC?!

Yeah, that shop where you bought it really knows what it's doing.

But, if you think it sounds good, why worry about changing it to "an actual neck pup"? Just keep what you got.

At least now you know what it is.
