Looking for info on a BC Rich Gunslinger Please!!!

Re: Looking for info on a BC Rich Gunslinger Please!!!

might be a decent deal. according to a currency converter thats about $380 USD. the new ones (http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/B.C.-Rich-Gunslinger-Retro-Electric-Guitar?sku=584456) are about $600 USD, but say they have an original floyd in them, while he says his has a licensed.

might be worth getting to replace the trem unless the licensed floyd holds tune alright for a while. plus it's hard to say if it'll be in good shape since you can't play the thing, but if you had to order online from a store at least a bad guitar out of the box should be covered. plus that is one badass shade of green :friday:

Re: Looking for info on a BC Rich Gunslinger Please!!!

The Gunslingers from back in the day were awesome guitars. I had one for a year or two but sold in 1993 and it is the one and only guitar I still regret selling. Mainly because it's virtually irreplaceable now.

However this guitar is bogus. The body may be a Gunslinger but that neck is not. It's been replaced with the neck from an NJ series something or other. You can clearly see the NJ series indication written on the headstock and the shape of the headstock is also correct to their shape from that time period.

No Gunslinger I know of was ever part of the NJ series and all had Made in the U.S.A. written on them were this says NJ series. The shape is also not correct for a Gunslinger. That little lip at the tip of the headstock was NJ series not their USA series.

The original Gunslingers did have licensed Floyd's but were stable though the trem arms were different. Also that neck plate looks like its been replaced as well. Gunsligers had a BC Rich Logo with a serial number and Los Angeles, CA, USA on them or something to that effect. This one seems to be smooth or blank. It also appears to only have two screws holding the neck on.

I'd stay away. Save your money for a reissue. The folks running BC Rich these days are making great guitars so even though it's an import it's sill gonna be a great guitar. I've consistently been impressed with their production offerings and bought a custom shop guitar from them a few years back that is just amazing.

Get the reissue and throw a Duncan in there to replace the Rockfield POS they throw in that thing. But stay away from this Gunslinger on eBay.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

My own knowledge of BC Rich Guitars is zero, so thanks for pointing out to me it may be a fake.

Cheers!

Re: Looking for info on a BC Rich Gunslinger Please!!!

I'm nowhere near an expert but I've been a rabid fan for over 20 years and have always had at least one Rich in my stable. I've owned many of every series.

So it's not so much a fake but more of a BC Rich Frankenstein. Either way it's not what he says it is.

I've since been offered the guitar below from a luthier I know:

BC-Rich-gunslinger-full-fro.jpg

It's a USA body with a USA neck from a USA ST3 (hence the rosewood fretboard and non reverse headstock so I'm told). It's been re-fretted with Dunlop 6000 fretwire and has had a refinish to how it is now and a new Tremolo system fitted to it too.

I'm waiting for a price on it atm, so I'll see what he comes back at me with to see whether I carry on saving up for a yellow reissue or not :friday:

I know where there's a red USA ST-III for sale, $450 with case, and it's been sitting there for months. So I'd say the price would need to be better than that.

Oh man, thats sweet!! I want it!!

Re: Looking for info on a BC Rich Gunslinger Please!!!

I cant pull up the ebay link here at work, but judging by the following posts, I assume its an old gunslinger. They are supposed to be awesome guitars!

I have a reissue that I absolutely LOVE ! (technically, its a bud's) Orig floyd, Dimarzio super D. the neck is super comfy and fast and it just oozes 80s tone.. My bud got the yellow one cuz it was cheap and he has it parked at my place. I find myself reaching for it most of the time..

Beatstreetmusic has them for like $449 or something like that. (yellow ones). definately worth more!! Id LOVE to have a black one, but they are $150 more.

The original 1 I linked to is a Gunslinger 'Outlaw', and as per an earlier post, is most likely to be a dog so I've decided to leave it this time.

The luthier with the USA Gunslinger I posted has gotten back to me with his price and although it's a good price, it's still more than I can afford. So looks like I'm going for 1 of the yellow re-issues :D

Dude's right. That neck is definitely an ST-3. Body is a Gunslinger. It's also probably been refinished, though I can't even remotely see I've seen all Gunslinger finishes. You're kinda in the same boat with this one as the one on ebay. The body is the only thing Gunslinger about it.

Keep your eye on a reissue. Scour for deals. The thing that has always made Gunslingers really cool was the inverted BC Rich headstock.

BTW, that headstock is the correct shape, so any Gunslinger you find, should be inverted and that shape. Platinum series had a much larger headstock though similar shape and NJs had that headstock with the lip on the one you posted from eBay.

Good luck finding what you're looking for.

The same luthier has offered me this guitar too:

gunslinger1.jpg

It's a USA Gunslinger body that he's had refinished with 1 of his own necks on it. This 1 is a fair bit cheaper that the refinished sparkly 1 I posted earlier.

In fact, if I were to buy a new reissue and change the pickup to what I want, the 2nd Gunslinger I just posted wouldn't be much more expensive (and it already has the pickup in it that I want).

So now I'm split over what to do! :D

Re: Looking for info on a BC Rich Gunslinger Please!!!

Keep in mind original Gunslingers also had unfinished necks. Made them very nice to play. The necks were where it was at. Really they were just overall a great guitar.

While the finish on that is nice, I dunno. You really have nothing to base your desire for a Gunslinger as far as feel goes off of, so one neck or another it may be all the same to you. No idea what this neck is like on the third guitar here but, it's still not a Gunslinger, ya know?

If you could get your hands on it and try it out then it might be worth it. Gunslingers have the reputation they have for a reason. Just like 1980s Ibanez RGs.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Both are variations and the reissue is the original style.

You're right in that I have nothing to base my desire of wanting a Gunslinger off of, I just think they look cool! :D

Re: Looking for info on a BC Rich Gunslinger Please!!!

I will not argue for a second that they look cool but its not like you're holding on to a memory of one you owned in 1992, know what I'm saying? They do have a great rep for a reason but I can't speak to the luthier's neck and I always dug the inverted Rich headstock on the Gunslingers. So the neck is an unknown for you either way. BUT, if you like the look of the Gunslinger, that original design neck is part of it.

Don't waste your money on something close just to get something. Hold out for the right deal when you have the money for it.

Thanks for your post.

He's since gotten back to me and has offered me the sparkly 1 for the same price as the sunburst 1, so now I REALLY don't know what to do! :D

Like you say, none of these guitars are replacing 1 I sold years ago or anything like that, so guess I should just decide which of those 2 or a Yellow Reissue I prefer and just go for it :friday:
