I personally have a tendency to put Sperzels on just about everything.
Proven locking mechanism on the locking version
Tight machining tolerances
Swappable left /right in about 30 seconds /tuner
Unique bushing design which allows the housing to hold the post and not the screw-in sleeve
and made in the USA
Only downside: others sell cheaper tuners.

If you aren't staring at the back of your headstock like an arr-tard, you aren't doin it right.
^^ This has never bothered me, but I generally play my guitars instead of staring at the back of the headstock for hours on end:beerchug:

Because for some people like myself, "Decent", "Average" and "Run of the mill" just don´t cut the mustard

i have a preference to the schaller mini tuners. always had fantastic results with them. there are a ton of threads on here about tuning stability and tuner pegs though. the general consensus is that if you are having tuning issues then there are most likely other culprits before the tuner pegs, mostly set up and nut issues.

My PRS SE One has a set of PRS "wing collar" locking tuners. If these fit, the good, ol' Schaller M6 will also fit. (The locking feature is completely unnecessary. The heads happened to be lying around after a Phase II heads conversion on another Nineties PRS.)
Pardon me for keeping out of the ninja/loincloth portion of this thread.
