Looking for some advice on humbuckers

So here it is.

I have been playing single coils for a while. Decided to pick up a guitar with humbuckers for the warmer sound. Grabbed a DBZ Bolero (LP clone). The pups in it sound muddy and undefined. Tried adjusting them, nothing has worked. So decided to put some new pups in.
Have been reading and researching and need some advice.

Looking for opinions on the best neck and bridge pups to look at.
Checked out the 59's, But like the Pearly Gate sound. Better in neck or bridge? Thinking neck, but then what for bridge?
Alnico 2 or Alnico 5 better? I know its all up to your own ears, but I am looking for advice on combos that people have actually used and were blown away.

I play mostly blues and classic rock. The DBZ is a mahogany body, with maple cap, rosewood fret board. Playing thru an H&K tubemeister 18 and 1x12 matching cab currently.

Any suggestions would be great

Re: Looking for some advice on humbuckers

Keep in mind, that by their vary nature of construction, almost all humbuckers will sound muddy and undefined running through the same EQ settings as a single coil. If you haven't yet, try experimenting with amp/pedal settings for a while with the humbuckers you have now.

Re: Looking for some advice on humbuckers

I strongly suggest a Whole Lotta Humbucker set. Perfect for classic rock. The neck has that Since I've Been Loving You vibe for your bluesy stuff. The bridge will take you as heavy into the hard rock realm as you want to go. The WLH makes your guitar sound like what you would expect a Les Paul to sound like.

Re: Looking for some advice on humbuckers

I love the Jazz neck humbucker with the Alnico II Pro neck humbucker taking a close 2nd place. Both of these pickups sound great in a LP style guitar with a 24.75" scale neck using 500k pots and a .015uf or lower capacitor. Very articulate, warm but not muddy at all. I use both of them personally and have for years now.
