Looking For Some Advice

Hey all, first time posting here.

I've had an LTD MX-100QM for about 10 years now and I've recently thought about upgrading the pickups. Maiden's Dave Murray is one of my biggest influences, so naturally I decided to check out what Seymour Duncan have to offer!

I've been drawn to the SH-11 for my bridge pickup but need something that will combine nicely with it for the neck. I mostly play more classic metal but occasionally dip into blues and other more mellow styles or go the other way and go a little heavier, so I need a bit of versatility. I have been looking at the SH-6 and wondered if anybody knew whether that would be a good combo, or if any other humbuckers might be a better match.

Any suggestions or advice greatly appreciated :)

Welcome to the forum!

A good combo with the SH-11 is the APH-1, which does classic hard rock liquid/buttery neck pickup solo thing really well. It also goes from clean to a lot of gain quite well, too.

I like to put pearly gates neck or bridge model to the neck pairing with a Custom Custom on the bridge. Neck or Bridge model of PG is up to the natural tone of the guitar.

May might prefer to stick with an A2 neck to pair with the CustomCustom, but the A5 Sentient is another option.
Nice and focused at high gain, and good cleans too.

good options given already. aph1n is a common match for the cc bridge. a pg would be a bit brighter but also a common pairing. the sentient is a cool option as well and, while i havent tried it, i bet it would match up quite well. the sh6n might not be a good match for the cc, i find it a bit dark/dry for clean tones

Thanks all for your suggestions! I've kinda narrowed it down to going with the APH-1 or Sentient, now to just make a decision...

The Sentient is cleaner and clearer with not many mids. The APH-1 is mostly mids. That might skew your decision. Both sound great split, too.

id say just pick one and give it a try! if you find you dont love it, a mag swap can shift things in the right direction
