Looking for something similar to a Les Paul, but not a Les Paul, suggestions?

Wasn't there a Les Paul in the seventies that looked something like that, with low impedence pickups with cream covers? Might have been a semi-hollow.

Anyway, I really like the look of that.

I believe under 'Gibson makes it' it should also say 'cocaine fuels it'.

Jesus! Ad guy: "Oh, you wanted a guy to sell your new ax. I thought you said you wanted an axe-murderer"

Yeah, that's the guitar I was thinking about. Thanks for finding the pix.

Wow! I've actually never seen one in person. I saw a video recently, that guy from Germany who demos classic guitars from his store had one. It sounded amazing.

I've only seen photos of goldtops. That burst on yours is to die for!

If you're not afraid of Korean/Indonesian/Chinese:

Dean Caddy
Dean Deceiver

Honestly the BEST LP-style guitar I've ever played was the Czech Dean Caddys. Thin mahogany bodies with a nice thick maple top. They feel more like SGs but maintain enough mass in the body to stop neck dive. They're hard to find, and the looks are...an acquired taste, to say the least...but they're 6-700, tops. Nice slim neck profile with a flat board and nice frets. The stock pickups were either no-names that weren't so good or Duncan Pearly Gates in some models. Some I've had:

I still own the blue one. Wish I still owned the purple one. That top...

I also have tiny hands.

Im still out on the looks of the Caddys, but yours are gorgeous! Esp the purple! oh my and the red sparkle is cool and unique, plus Ive been wanting a blue lp with white binding.. sweet!

Thick body, slim neck, killer looks! They came in both stop-tail and Floyd Rose versions.

How about an Epi Alley Cat?

I purchased the Wild Cat (the twin P90 version) the minute it was released back in 2003 or 2004. I was dumb to sell it ( I needed to make rent at the time). It's kind of like a cross between a Gretsch and a Les Paul.

I've got a Gretsch 5120. I've always like the Alley Cat/Wild Cat guitars, but I feel like it would be a bit redundant at the moment. Until I have a couple more essential niches filled (double humbucker solid body, and single p90 are the big two that I still need), I can start thinking about luxury purchases like that.
