Seems like an odd thing to 'add', huh?

There is a thread on that very topic somewhere on their support forum. According to TC, the tweaks they did to whatever code is inside those pedals put a lot more strain on their processor,so the 800 ms cap is there for it to operate smoothly.

Seems like they either need to add more power or stop advertising the top delay time like it is available in all modes (it isn't). I did a lot of research before I bought mine, and didn't see that mentioned anywhere. Once I figured this out, I resold it a week later.

Most of my pedals are non-SD pedals. I can't afford them all!

TC Electronics Flashback2 X4 has most, if not all, of that. I know it has 16th subdivisions on it.

It does at that. I was worried the regen control wouldn't do what I needed, but the initial delay does speak properly with regen all the way down. Price is nice (used in good shape averages ~$150), especially for the number of models this one has. Only problem, and it's a common one, is that the x4 chassis takes a lot of pedalboard real estate, and there's no two-button solution I can find

This just might knock the Avalanche Run off the top shortlist spot. I'm also reconsidering the Carbon Copy Deluxe; as a single-slapback delay the tone loss is negligible, the pedal is among the smaller delays, and the core circuit is a classic. I think those are my shortlist for now; the ARv2 has a few cool features like a straightforward momentary mode and a seriously good reverb, the CCD is straight-up everything I wanted except lossless in a compact package, and the FB2X4 is feature-packed, bonus looper (actually usable) and reasonably priced, if I can deal with the footprint.
