Duncan Distortion! I use that in my Epi lespaul custom and to be honest, i couldnt be happier with another pickup. I tried a Duncan Custom but the Distortion was just tighter, thicker and more kick ass overall

George Lynch used a modified Distortion for most of the Dokken albums, so that's as close as you can get (unless you want one to his specs from the Custom Shop, but that's not really necessary)

I'm with Duke. A Distortion lives in mine. Turn up the bass a little on your amp to get thicker. However, keep in mind the Lynch tone is a complex beast that changes all the time - with some studio stuff thrown in. That's a million dollar tone costing thousands of $$.

Here's what I noticed when I replaced the SH-5 custom in my lespaul with a Sh-6 distortion. the tone became noticabley tighter, the chug was much more noticable under highgain tones, it also became a bit more clearer.

Thicker? yes definitly. when I hit those power chords it just has this thick defined sound to it. at the same time, its not a mess.

You can always re-sell it if you dont like it.

As much as I love the Demon in my LP, it sure isn't hot enough to capture the tone you are looking for. I agree that a DD should be the first thing you try. After that, maybe a JB.

I know GL was using a modified DD back then, but he also wasn't using a Les Paul, so keep that in mind. Your axe is naturally fatter and fuller, less bright, and more mids than the axes GL was using on Under Lock & Key.

A Distortion and a JB are the same coils but the JB uses an Alnico 5 while the DD uses a very large ceramic magnet...aa JB with an A2 magnet is refered to as a JB Prototype...

The JB Prototype could be what the Super V pickup is in the new ESP Lynch guitars. The only description I've seen for it is that it sounds like an old JB, and if he's currently using JBs with A2 magnets that would make sense.
