Duncan Distortion! I use that in my Epi lespaul custom and to be honest, i couldnt be happier with another pickup. I tried a Duncan Custom but the Distortion was just tighter, thicker and more kick ass overallkeano12 said:And no I don't like the Screamin Demon. That thick sound on Unchain the Night. Of course amo is big part.
Clear yet thick. Fat solos!

Here's what I noticed when I replaced the SH-5 custom in my lespaul with a Sh-6 distortion. the tone became noticabley tighter, the chug was much more noticable under highgain tones, it also became a bit more clearer.keano12 said:So the DD can be thick not just a high sounding ceramic pup?
Good point he changes **** all the time.

Thicker? yes definitly. when I hit those power chords it just has this thick defined sound to it. at the same time, its not a mess.
You can always re-sell it if you dont like it.

Lewguitar said:That would make them a Distortion because the JB is a Distortion with an alnico 2 magnet and the JB is a Distortion with an alnico 5 magnet. Evan has posted on this and told us that they are exactly the same pickup...with differant magnets.
Someone told me that George sometimes uses the same humbucker I have in my Les Paul: a vintage output Tom Holmes HB.
It's the singer...not the song. Or in this case: it's the player...not the pickup.
