Looking for...

I'm looking for a small solid state amp that I will be using to do cleans. I want something that has enough power, maybe between 30 and 50 watts. I'm also looking for something that won't set me back more than 400-500$. I was looking at some small marshalls and fenders, and they seem interesting.

Is there something out there that stands out of the pack in what i described, or am I on the right track with marshall and fender?

Re: Looking for...

check out the smaller amps in the Jazz Chorus line: JC-90, JC-77, and the JC-55

They're of course Jazz Choruses so they have GREAT cleans, plus they're smaller than the hefty JC-120

Re: Looking for...

Another option would also be a smaller head for my 4x12 cab. I currently have a 100W tube head, and the cleans from it are not what I want. Is there a head I could drop on there that would sound nice. I don't mind solid state or tube.

Re: Looking for...

A Peavey Bandit would drive a 4x12 no problem, and they sound really good clean, plus pawn shops usually let em go for no more than 200 dollars.

Re: Looking for...

If you've already got a 4x12, look at a clean, used SF Fender head. A Bassman 100 is pretty clean at high volumes.
