Looks like Fender has completely redone their American Vintage line

Wow, looks like they really went back to the drawing board on their American Vintage line and added a ton of new models!

To take the American Vintage series forward, we needed to return to the source and go back in time. We zeroed in on a goldmine of unbelievable original vintage specimens, and we spared no detail in painstakingly dissecting and documenting each phenomenal original-era instrument. We made the journey. We did the work. We dived deep. Every detail was scrutinized, studied and honed.

After exhaustive research, we restored existing '50s-era tooling to the glory of its prime. We created new tooling to craft parts even more authentically. Manufacturing processes were upgraded and refined. New pickups were voiced for each guitar. And much more. Watch the videos and look at the images to see some examples of the journey we took in researching these vintage guitars to make our new instruments.

These look really cool! Basically, as close as you can get to the actual original instruments. Also looks like they've gone up in price... MF has them retail for $1999

This caught my eye, too.

I'm wondering about the new finishes. The thinner, the better to my thinking. Finish checking has never bothered me.

This line has long been a key part of post-CBS Fender's backbone. Hope they kept that in mind as they revamped it.

Looks like this is them upping their game. Restoring the original tooling and such.

LOVE IT.

Re: Looks like Fender has completely redone their American Vintage line

So... How about the polyurethane undercoat on '50's reissue models? Is it gone or not?

Is anyone seriously considering spending $2,000 on one of these?

Re: Looks like Fender has completely redone their American Vintage line

Not enough color choices.

Re: Looks like Fender has completely redone their American Vintage line

Why don't they have that color choice for Strats? They've also got a Lake Placid Blue *Telecaster* but not a Strat.

Who's in charge over there?

Re: Looks like Fender has completely redone their American Vintage line

Seems like they've gone with the Gibson model for reissues: clinical accuracy + crazy high prices.

Still cheaper than a RI LP though.

Neither Gibson reissues nor these Fenders are anywhere close to being clinically accurate. For the prices, they should be, but.......they aren't.

****, $2,000 for a Fender? No.

For that much I almost expect to get a say on what the features are!

Re: Looks like Fender has completely redone their American Vintage line

Given that these are a relaunch of the line, how would you know?

I'm not sure I understand the question. For one thing, they are already in stores, so anyone can go see them in person. For another, not even Custom Shop models are clinically accurate; no bona-fide Fender reissue ever has been, and why would these be any different? For another, the specs speak for themselves; they are different than the originals, right there in black and white. For yet another, people have called Fender asking about the finishes, and have been told that there is still a poly undercoat, even on the pre-63-based reissues, which had no such thing, however, the undercoat is now thinner. Not to mention that nitrocellulose formulas are different than they used to be, and a whole slew of other little things, such as the wrong materials used for pickguards, knobs, etc.

So, I am not saying they aren't more accurate than they used to be, I'm not saying they aren't good guitars, I'm not saying that they don't deserve the label "reissue," and I'm not saying that any of this actually matters in making a good instrument. I'm just saying that there is no way they are "clinically accurate," as the one guy stated. If you want a truly clinically accurate reproduction, you have to go to a custom builder or build your own.

seems like they moved they old Custom Shop Time Machine line over to the regular factory... i love Fender and really love the Vintage looks of their line... i'm not 100% a fan of all the specs of vintage style frets in reissued Fenders... but that being said i'd love a sunburst 56 strat anyways...

A 65 Jag nice wish it was a 66 with block inlays but still nice..... Way out of alot of Fender lovers price range though thing I'll still save for a MIJ 62 or 66 Jag reissue no where near as accurate but good intruments. Still cool to revamp the line and not just have 57 and 62 sunburst strats and 52 butterscotch teles being the main vintage inspired Fenders.

The 64 Tele in sunburst or blue is calling out to me.
