looks like parker guitars is diving in the singlecut pirahna infested waters

Re: looks like parker guitars is diving in the singlecut pirahna infested waters

I actually kinda like that, I think the lower horn will be enough to let them get by ;).

PRS is trying another singlecut it looks like, this time it's a tele shape. Looks nice.

I like everything about that except the headstock. For whatever reason, I just like "conventional" headstocks.

I'm really digging that Parker. Those necks are just incredible. I love how wide and thin they are... they were meant to shred.

Where can I see that?

I don't think this will result in any legal action from Gibsue.
  • two knobs intead of four
  • way different cutaway/lower bout
  • six on a side headstock
Even a Nashville judge wouldn't rule that this guitar could be confused with a Lester.

BTW, the body style was introduced at Summer NAMM last year.

Upon closer look (especially at the headstocks, and what I can see of the sign) these may NOT be PRS guitars, but that sure looks like their bird inlays on the guitar on the far left....

I believe those are dolphins, not birds and the guitars are by Nik Huber.

AH! Thank you for clearing that up, I was wondering how someone could get away with bird inlays. That makes sense. Beautiful guitars BTW.

Huh....maybe there will be a Parker that isn't as sterile as the back of an autoclave.

Between this model and Parkers take on the Tele it's kinda sad. When i met Ken a few years ago he sounded like a man that had been beaten pretty savagely, but still had some fight left in him. These two models must have been the last shreds of his soul drifting away.

Damned shame...I hate the guitars but I have alot of respect for him as a builder and Parker as a company for doing that whole evolving thing. In conversation he came off as a total a$$hole, but he certainly did know his stuff.

Yep. I don't think the customer service can possibly be decent, given the fact that I've asked multiple questions about their guitars and never received one single reply.

I would have purchased one if they were built with normal woods, but like the Deluxe or Classic Fly's neck. I always dug how light they were, how thin and different the body was. They really are cool guitars that had poor follow through. The stock pups are very dry (that's put nicely). Changing out pups would be the ideal thing to do, but only a few models make it possible. The access on those necks were insane, that's what drew me to them so badly. I dug the feel of those weird necks and stainless steel frets. I liked how they had Fishman piezo systems built in too.

I think this new design looks better than the others, but I can't help, but think he's selling out doing all of this now. I never really hear much about Parkers anymore, so I'm guessing not a lot of people really like the guy that much to support his product.

When the Parkers first came out they were innovative in design and pretty darned revolutionary.

I think alot of the problem is that they did that and then didn't do much else. They really got pigeon-holed product-wise. If it was a Parker there were a few things you knew it was going to have; the neck shape, the frets, the body shape and probably a 75% chance of one of those stupid piezo pickups.

Had they gone and released the Singlecut and Tele-esque models it might have done much to make them more noticable.

Who knows though....if they go under those guitars could very well end up very collectible. Look at Steinberger; a very easily pigeon-holed guitar make that's now going for big bucks.

figures, I started this thread then I went and bought a Parker Nitefly from guitar center today, $499 on sale, picture is in my profile. Sweet deal, nice axe. I love the piezo actually. And the Dimarzios suck bad. Duncans going in soon.

Re: looks like parker guitars is diving in the singlecut pirahna infested waters

I like a lot of the ideas behind Parker guitars, but the Tele thing and single cut thing are just rediculous. If I wanted a Paul, I'd get a Paul or any other decent copy, same with the tele.

I would love to be able to play the original Parkers though, except for the fact that teh upper bout digs into my chest and the pickups sound like @ss when plugging straight into an old-shool amp. Processed though, they are very nice.
