Looks like the Marshall JVM forum is no more.

That stinks, I just made an account there a few months ago.

My JVM210H has turned out to be my favorite amp I've ever owned (so far) and I was looking at the information on there regarding adding a choke, the C83 mod, negative feedback, etc etc. That and maybe acquiring a 205H as a 2nd head and giving it 5881 power tubes.

Guess I'll have to go to marshallforum.com or something like that.

Re: Looks like the Marshall JVM forum is no more.

Bummer. A few years ago when I owned a JVM I joined up there. It was a great resource for info. I haven’t been since I sold my JVM almost 2 years ago now.

Re: Looks like the Marshall JVM forum is no more.

A bit off topic, but have you guys tried the Satriani signature JVM?

Holy smokes. It is amazing.

It substitutes he onboard reverb for a noise gate? Is that the only difference?

I have not tried it. I hear it's a step above the regular 410H heads.

The noise gate/reverb swap is one of a few changes, I have heard there's some tweaks to the voicings as well. What exactly they did, I don't know but these things garner rave reviews and they're very hard to find on the used market.

If they made a 2-channel version I'd probably get it without thinking about it. :D

Re: Looks like the Marshall JVM forum is no more.

Well, this blows wide open ass. To JVM fans, it is comparable to the burning of the library at Alexandria.

Re: Looks like the Marshall JVM forum is no more.

I don't know much about web pages, but are we sure the right isn't just temporarily down?

Re: Looks like the Marshall JVM forum is no more.

Apparently it's looked like that since late October or so.

Re: Looks like the Marshall JVM forum is no more.

Damn, that's a bummer. But I suppose it could only last so long, since it was privately funded by a few individuals.

Re: Looks like the Marshall JVM forum is no more.

In the last decade, overall gear forum population on the internet has steadily dwindled.

A lot of gear forums that used to be teeming metropolises are gone or simply a sockpuppet-show.

Definitely an epidemic... many reasons as to why.

Re: Looks like the Marshall JVM forum is no more.

Who cares as long as the JVM amp is still around. The JVM410h is one of the best amps you can get.

Re: Looks like the Marshall JVM forum is no more.

Was the information there well organized? If so, some of it might be recoverable through archive.org.

It is such a pity that the fora are disappearing. I guess they are out-competed by Facebook groups, but those mostly work for validation pictures of one's gear; serious questions or discussions tend to disappear quickly. This, apparently, is what we call progress.

It’s sad, isn’t it?
I logged out of my Facebook account about 4 years ago....don’t miss it one bit.

I think that besides the noise gates and the mid-shift button, the channels are just voiced differently.

I've not actually played the standard JVM, so I can't compare. All I know is that the Satriani model was really good. I was very impressed.

Marshall are putting out some great stuff lately. This, the Slash AFD Sig and the 1w tube practice amp series were all great.

After all, it wasn't that long ago that they were making **** like he Mode 4.

No argument from me there. I don't need all the options that the 410 offers but I do love my 210H.

Because it would be awesome to have bought not one but two roundly panned amps in the same year.

What was the other one?

I've been wanting a 2204 reissue with an FX loop for a while, but it looks like the new Origin 50 head fit the bill nicely.

Weirdly, I've only seen someone playing a Mode 4 in public a few times and they were all getting halfway decent sounds from them! Maybe that amp got styled and marketed to the wrong people and trying to use it for 'teh br00talz' wasn't the right way to go about it?

Update: After seeing the 20w combo in action at NAMM, demoed by Marshall... ehhh. I dunno. I'd need to spend some time with it to see if i can really get it to give up the goods.

The demo seemed to be touting it as a clean to mid-crunch pedal platform. It reminded me of sort of halfway between a modernized JTM45 and a JMP 50w but without being as cool or gutsy as either one.

Like I said, I'm just not sure.
