Loop masters: What do you think of the Akai Headrush E2?

Contemplating getting one of these:

I have other delays for echo.
This would be for the 35 seconds of looping and sound-on-sound. I'm looking for something to create these sorts of ambient washes with guitar, and loop them while I make other noises over the top (play the vid starting at about 5:00):

Have any of you used the Akai pedal for looping? If so, what did you think?

I know Mike Sullivan from Russian Circles uses (used?) one... he is pretty cool... :D

I've played with one for a bit, and they're really good. A lot more on point than most I've tried. Should be just fine for what you want.

Looooove Hammock btw

How much control do you have over these units? I know a few post rock guys have them but can you stop and loop and play a previously recorded one or what? I am getting my hands on a bunch of ambient pedals and this might be necessary. :D

(Sorry to hijack)

Never tried one. I do ambient washes with my looper, though. Biggest feature I need is the ability to fade out loops with my feet, instead of just hitting the 'stop' button, and it all abruptly stops. I don't know if the Headrush can do this, (few loopers can), but it is essential to morph between loops and live playing.

I love mine... wanna hear/see?

What I like about it is its simplicity. There are others with more options, multiple independent loops, etc. However, as a solo performer, I need something simple to operate: 2 switches, 3 modes (echo, delay and loop). Record, play stop... infinite layering.

That's all I need and it works wonders for me.

That's great stuff, Surgeon.
Thanks, gents. Mincer, good point about fading out loops. I hadn't considered that.
A friend of mine had a software solution - Ableton Live Intro version. He claims it can be configured to act as a guitar looper. I need to watch the demo video later.

Thanks, hope you find the unit that works for you!
