Loophole?

So the price of a standard Duncan pickup is 79$, but after looking at the custom shop website, you can send in pickups to be rewound, rewired and mag swapped for 75. So could I send in my JB trembucker and have them turn it in to an Alternative 8? Could they change the bobbin colors? This seems like a cheaper way to get a custom pickup

Re: Loophole?

If that $4 savings is so desirable, and the custom shop wait doesn't bother you.

But changing bobbin colors would be a new pickup, not a rewind.

That's fine, just curious. But I think the biggest savings would be giving them custom specs, and saving 85$ off getting a new custom humbucker.

Re: Loophole?

That's not really a saving as you lose your old pup that you already paid for. It's better to get a new pup.

That's a good point, but if you were to go on ebay and find an old beat up SD pick up for 30 and then send it in and have it made into a custom pup, it would still be cheaper than getting a brand new custom. In all fairness though, I would oay the full price to support them, but if it's all you can afford, it's a good deal

Re: Loophole?

It only costs $75 to get a pickup repaired?

Re: Loophole?

The protocol is, you send a stock broken p'up and you get the same or other stock p'up rewound.

Your don't get to choose custom specs without paying custom shop prices.

HTH,

Great to know. I have a few that fit the bill.
